Had choir practice on Friday and though I was zonked, made it a point to go for it.
Earlier at work enjoyed a pizza because a visiting engineer from a US company was down here =P~

Went for Bible Class after work on Saturday. We are doing the Wisdom books and I am starting to understand what is being thought. Have still a long way to go.

Mervin talked about Retributive Justice which in short means:

The righteous shall be blessed and the wicked shall be punished.

This was the main theme of the Pentateuch.
There’s Bible reading homework which I shall have to make time for now. It’s nice learning the Bible and I hope to put what I learn in practice o:-)

And finally, the much awaited weekend er… holiday:D i.e. Sunday.

Our singing for 9.30am mass was cancelled and since I had to go to Melody’s place, I dediced to go fot the 10am mass in Mt. Carmel’s. They have a nice choir which mainly is the prayer-group folks.

Went to Melody’s place to do her computer work and Madam C came over around 12.15pm. We had plans to go watch Million Dollar Baby.

Million Dollar Baby

Booked tickets at Globus for the 12.45pm show. I love early shows as they are very light on the pocket ;))

The plot outline goes as:

In the wake of a painful estrangement from his daughter, boxing trainer Frankie Dunn (played by Clint Eastwood) has been unwilling to let himself get close to anyone for a very long time–then Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) walks into his gym. In a life of constant struggle, Maggie’s gotten herself this far on raw talent, unshakable focus and a tremendous force of will. But more than anything, she wants someone to believe in her. The last thing Frankie needs is that kind of responsibility– let alone that kind of risk–but won over by Maggie’s sheer determination, he begrudgingly agrees to take her on. In turns exasperating and inspiring each other, the two come to discover that they share a common spirit that transcends the pain and loss of their pasts, and they find in each other a sense of family they lost long ago. Yet, they both face a battle that will demand more heart and courage than any they’ve ever known.

The movie was really amazing. Though I don’t always agree with the Oscars, this time I will go with them. The movie won four Oscars: best picture, best actress (Hilary Swank), best supporting actor (Morgan Freeman) and best director.

Just one point in the movie that I disapproved with was the final “mercy killing” of Maggie (on her request) by Frankie, which is a sin.

But, putting that in the background, the twist in the tale was excellent. And though I hate weepy endings, I loved this movie.

Two lessons to be learnt from it:

Always protect yourself

and

A measure of a person is Not - How did (s)he die? But - How did (s)he live?

Enough said!

Coincidently, I received this mail from a friend today:

MEASURE OF A MAN
Not - How did he die? But - How did he live?
Not - What did he gain? But - What did he give?
These are the things that measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not - What was his station? But - had he a heart?
And - How did he play his God-given part?
Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not - What was his church? Not - What was his creed?
But - Had he befriended those really in need?
Not - What did the sketch in the newspaper say?
But - How many were sorry when he passed away?
These are the things that measure the worth
Of a man, as a man, regardless of birth.

After the movie we went off to Lucky’s for lunch and as usual Madam C’s eyes are bigger than her stomach ;)

Had to make it back to Melody’s place but since she was out Madam C and I killed sometime at Bandstand before going back to Melody’s house to finish off my computer work.
Walked Madam C home around 6.30pm and then returned back to Melody’s place.

Was supposed to go out to watch Anything but Love with Melody, but she ditched me for another set of friends :( and conveniently said that she is letting me spend time with Madam C. Excuses:O

Came home, had dinner and now I shall hit the bed. A long six day week ahead and I will need the sleep :)
