Awoke early on Sunday morning to reach church in time. Mass was good.
After this, since the net was down, I just lazed around and did a little preparation for my formation course.
Reached well in time for the course. Today was the last day.
After the course I went over to Melody’s house in order to do the office work that I had to submit by Monday.
After this we went to watch Beauty, Brains and Personality at St. Andrew’s Auditorium

I quote from Mumbai Theatre Guide:
BEAUTY, BRAINS, AND PERSONALITY is an English comedy about three very different modern women and the friendship that they share. Sara, Tanya, and Pia meet for their monthly dinner party …
Pia (Tejaswini Kolhapure) is a smart-looking woman of 30 doing her Ph.D. She is a disciplined woman, a woman supposedly given to feminist causes. In a stereotypical fashion, she is not interested in men or marriage (at least for the time being). She only talks about her books and her career. In short she is just brains, brains and more brains! According to Pia, ‘She doesn’t NEED a man!!’
Tanya (Vandana Sajnani) on the other hand is a cute, lovable sort of a woman of 25. She works at the hot spot restaurant- “Sizzling Fries”, where she gets all the male attention, because she too is attractive in her own way. But according to her ’she will never get a man’! She blames her own situation because her expectations are too high. The man usually runs away after the third date. Her biggest dream and desire is to be a mother, so she goes through artificial methods to have a baby!
And finally one has Sara (Kashmira Shah), a highly attractive woman of 28, vivacious, obsessed with makeup and men, knows little or nothing about her office work, has a problem with Pia and her views, has had a lot of relationships and boyfriends in her life, and considers herself an ultimate beauty!
On one of their monthly dinner sessions, the conversation leads to a debate where Sara hurts Pia and Tanya claiming that she is the prettiest of the three. Words are exchanged and that’s the end of their dinner sessions. Six months later Tanya is about to have a baby. Pia who is the epitome of morals and who calls herself a feminist is making major career/life changes that include posing glamorously for a famous fashion magazine, right after she acquires a Ph.D. And Sara who considered herself the best looker is struggling in her life to be something more than simply “the beauty”… and failing miserably at that.
The three of them then meet once again but this time there are no pretences and the comedy, which arises out of the three women’s pathos is bound to touch a chord in the audience or at least that is what producer-director Vandana Sajnani firmly believes.
The movie turned out to be rather enjoyable. The first Act was a little boring, but for a few funny comments thrown in. However, the second Act was a lot better. It got funnier and kept us laughing quite a bit.
Kashmera plays her role of the hot dumb babe very well and she is contradicted …er… complimented by Vandana and Tejaswini.
Overall worth watching once.
After the movie, we met up with Sean and after much deliberation set off for Not Just Jazz By The Bay.
They have Karaoke Night on Sundays, and Melody was all keen to sing there.
It’s in town and for a change I wasn’t driving (or riding as Melody loves to point out).
Didn’t want to be a spoilt sport and so didn’t complain (much) when she gave my name to sing “Leaving on a Jet Plane”.
Didn’t expect to be the second person to be called to sing. Mustered the courage and sang the song. Made Melody infamous before that ![]()
She later sang “I will Survive” and immediately after that we left.
Reached her place, then I dropped Sean home and got back home myself around 1.00am much to the ire of my Mom.
Woke up early this morning and went off to work. Am back home now. Didn’t go for choir as I feel rather zonked.
Overall, had a great but rather expensive weekend. But, then again, I believe that once in a while I can spend a little on me ![]()
