Salaam Namaste is the story of two Indians in Australia. Ambar played by Preity Zinta comes to Australia to learn medicine and works part time as a radio jockey for the radio station Salaam Namaste. Nick (Saif Ali Khan) is an architect by profession and a chef by choice living his life with no commitments and as he chooses too.
Nick, being Nick, fails to turn up for a scheduled interview with Salaam Namaste jockey Ambar simply because he oversleeps. She rewards him with a lesson in punctuality and discipline.
They eventually meet and as with most Bollywood movies the fighting couple falls in love. Nick asks Ambar to move in with him to check their compatibility and she agrees.
What follows is a rather enjoyable movie, predictable but fun. There are many funny, few sad, some heart wrenching and several romantic moments in the film.
Arsad Warsi as Saifs best friend and Javed Jaffrey as Saif and Preitys landlord do add a few funny moments in the film.
A highly recommended movie especially if you are taking that special someone for it.
Update: This tutorial is now superceded by A Comprehensive Guide to Protecting Your Blog from Spam.
Comment spam is something every blogger is really really afraid of. Over the past two years that I have been using WordPress this is one problem that I have faced on and off.
I realized that the amount of spam I was receiving was is direct relation to my popularity. (and I wasn’t that know then)
After a lot of experimenting, I have finalized settled down on the following. I’m pretty much spam free for now.
Finally Madam C convinced me to go watch another Hindi movie with her. This time it was Salaam Namaste.
Picked her up from Bandra around 12.15pm and we immediately headed back to Cinemax, Andheri.

Had a splitting headache at work on Thursday which got really bad towards evening. I guess it was because of my contact lens and the bad lighting around my office PC.
Woke up on Friday morning with the headache even worse. After some deliberation I decided to stay home especially since I had to work Saturday.
Went back to sleep and woke up only around 11am.
Paid a visit to my doctor and then went to the Orange shop to pick up my Reebok voucher for the new number I booked for my mother, which she doesn’t use!
Got back home and slept the afternoon out.
Also ordered for my Dual Voltage 512MB MMC for my Nokia 6681. Finally I can load my cell with more music to keep me occupied for hours
Also loaded Symbian OggPlay since the inbuilt Music Player is rather feature limited.
Only need to figure out a good way to create ordered playlists on my phone.
Headed off to Khandala with Melody, Elvis and Delilah last weekend (17-18 September).
Had planned this quite a while back and I was really hoping that work would not make me cancel. Thankfully, it did not.
We had booked a car and driver who would be with us during the two days which was a very smart thing to do. Having your own set of wheels is very much a necessity. We headed to Khandala early Saturday morning and reached there before 8am.We were staying in Khandala in a nice “dalmation” house.
I’m not going to go into a detailed account of the visit there because once again Melody has done an excellent job of it.
But I must say we did manage to squeeze in a lot in just two days with visits to St. Mary’s, Karla Caves, Lonavala, NAB, Fariyas Holiday Resort and Rajmachi Udhyan!
The ride home was rather eventful as well because the tire of our car got punctured due to the disgusting roads near Panvel (not to mention whole of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai). To make matters worse we didn’t have the spanner. Thankfully for us, a family on their way back from Lonavala stopped and lent us their tools to change the tire.
Overall had a fantastic time. It was a much needed break away from work and I am really glad I didn’t miss it.
Had just one complain about the visit there and that was regarding the way the locals simply fleece visitors to Khandala and with no one to put a stop to it! And unfortunately, there is no way to put a stop to it except if the government steps in and we shall not go down that track…
