Soon after our last meetup, I proposed another SCMHRD Batchmeet. This time, the Seniors joined us as well, infact Siddhant and Mridul, two of the seniors even suggested the venue – Just Around the Corner in Bandra.

Picked up Trupti from Bandra station and went to find the place, the location of which was embedded somewhere deep in my mind. Some of you who travel (read roam about) as much as I do would identify with me when I say that the place is stuck there, you remember it clearly, but just dont know how to get to it!
Well, thankfully, the mind uncleared and I found the location.

By the time most of you read this post, I will be in the Volvo on my way to Goa. Crispin and I set out on Friday hunting for tickets. We decided to try getting them in the area, but were a little taken aback by the price (Rs. 900).

So we headed towards Teli Galli in Andheri where a multitude of these booking offices exist, only to find that the rate there was just the same for the sleeper. We decided to go ahead and book the tickets anyway, since we had to go. The sleeper is air conditioned, so the journey should be pleasant. I can confirm this when I land there.

Have dragged along my camera for the journey, so I’m going to be trigger happy as much as possible. Am also grabbing my laptop with an internet connection to give possible regular updates during the stay there.

After Alister Pereira was left of with a sentence of just six months after having killed seven labourers, the Mumbai High Court has taken charge of the case and has asked the police to submit all the evidence in the case. Without doubt, the police have been really sloppy in the investigation and a lot of people were enraged with this. What was really pissing off was his lawyers stating that the sentence of six months was harsh!

With the Mouse’s exams over, it was unwinding time.

Met up with her on Tuesday and we set off to town accompanied by her sister to catch The Namesake. The movie was interesting and all the actors do their parts well. I will write a detailed review of this sometime soon.

The movie was followed by “cheap” Chinese… it wasn’t that cheap but we definitely ate our fill for less than 200 bucks.

Then began the journey back home. We took a train from CST, which makes it the first time in my life that I have travelled by Central Railways (did I mention that I am a bike person?)

Got home at almost 11pm and as usual, my internet was down, which is a nightly feature. Anyway, I have picked up a Reliance NetConnect connection. I am supposed to have the first two months free for the 1GB plan that I chose.

The last two nights I have used the plan. I haven’t hit my daily target but I have to keep checking the account. I plan on shifting to the Night Unlimited plan once I get to Pune.

Yesterday, was back to town again, this time was a totally different purpose. I first met the mouse at Metropolis Medical Center. Nice place inside, horrible building outside :O

Lunch was pizza from Garcia’s which is normally good, but was a real disaster this time.

We finally set out to town in the afternoon. Our first stop was at the Strand Book Exhibition at Sunderbai hall. Didn’t find any of the books that I was looking for.

Next stop was near Regal to pick up tshirts from the Tantra outlet there. Women can sure spend a lot of time shopping. And the final stop was at Chimanlal’s to pick up expensive paper!

While there, we roamed the streets of town and I managed to pick up a great deal of books for little amounts of money. Among these I picked up The Alchemist, The Kite Runner, The World Is Flat, The Old Man and The Sea, The Catcher in the Rye and Angels & Demons.

And did I mention that I downed a huge glass of sugarcane juice??

After a rather fulfilling shopping experience and two aching legs we finally found our way back home.

I pleased to say that I have had over 500 downloads my new release of the Snap Shots plugin in the last three days.

This is definitely my faster and largest downloaded product ever!

And to give you a heads up, there is a new release of the same coming in the next month that will include complete internationalization as well as support for language customization.

Trendio is a stock market where the stocks are words from the news: politicians, celebrities, companies, sport events, etc… The price of a word is relative to its popularity in the media. As is in the real stock market, you compose your portfolio with words that you believe will rise, and you win if your predictions prove to be right.

Ok, if you go ahead, let me confess, you won’t become a millionaire using Tredio, but you can definitely become a Trendillionaire.

Trendio sounded like fun and while I have zero experience in the stock market, I decided to give this a shot.

Signing Up

Signing up for Trendio was extremely simple. It requires you to select a username and password, enter your email, date of birth and few other details. A verification email is sent to your email address (which arrived immediately) and you can then follow the link and activate your account.

Once your account is activated you receive $10000 with which you can begin your trading. You can also earn more money by inviting your friends. Trendio can import contacts from your Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail accounts, to whom you can send the invites.
This process threw up PHP errors for me and so I wasn’t able to do this.

Starting Off

Like I said before, I have zero experience in the stock market and so went through Trendio’s Presentation on getting me started.

Trendio offers several categories from News, Politics, Business, Entertainment, Sport and Technology and thus tries to offer everyone something.

You also have a live ticker at the bottom which presents you news from over 3000 news sources with keywords hightlighted, so you can use that too to influence your decision.

Being more familiar with technology I decided to buy 6 shares of the keyword “Windows” for 358.09 each and 7 shares of Google for 312.75 each.

The reason I chose Windows was because of the news results that I saw and the reason I chose Google was because of its recent acquisition of DoubleClick.

Apparently my choices weren’t all that great, because both the keywords saw a fall.

So, I took the smart option and sold off both the keywords. Next time, I shall try some other choices…

Other Things

Besides just trading in words, Trendio also offers you several contests. I haven’t given these contests a shot because they are over several day period and hence I won’t be able to review them in this post. However, this is an option I shall be looking into.

Trendio also has a complete French version of the site to cater to that set of the population.

Overall my experience with Trendio has been good so far (though I did lose Trendillions )
It is a good deal of fun in the spare time. If you have less time on your hands, then even 10 to 15 minutes a day are enough. If you really want to rise in the rankings out there, then you can always devote a lot more time to trading.
