After I specified my stand on sponsored themes, woke up this morning to read another aspect that we plugin authors do not receive, the link love that theme authors get, except for a few plugins.
Are you a plugin author? What do you feel about this issue?

Writing a great plugin provides a plugin author with some great exposure and plenty of visits. It’s not as bad as it sounds. I have plenty of comments on my blog that tell me how much I’m appreciated.

I don’t think any theme should have a sponsored link because (and I strongly stand by this) if you can’t remove it, then this “sponsor” should be paying the theme user RENT to have their link there.

I think plugin authors actually get all the real linklove. I think you can count on one hand the themes that people actually care to blog about, it’s not like that with plugins. People like to blog about plugins that saved their blog/ day. And these posts are ten thousand more worth than a link in a footer of a theme.
