Auto-Close Comments, Pingbacks and Trackbacks Updated to 1.1

I have updated my plugin Auto-Close Comments, Pingbacks and Trackbacks to include one main option, viz. the ability to keep certain posts open.

You can set it for Comments and Pingbacks/Trackbacks separately. You need to enter a comma-separated list of Post IDs that you want to keep open for discussion.

I was happy to read about the update… But I need it open on the guestbook-page, too :-( (

I believe this is your Guestbook page?

Try entering 264 in the Comments to be kept open box. Let me know how it goes?

Yes, it is… And I already tried it, it doesn’t work .

Let me run some tests on my end. I’m planning on providing the option to include / exclude posts in the next version.

I just gave it a shot. I entered the id 595 for my page http://ajaydsouza.com/wordpress/plugins/open-picture-window-plugin/ on the options page and hit “Save and Run Once” and it opened up the comments on that page.

I have done like you sugested an I am not able to leave a comment… maybe it is due to my theme? I left it closed for you to look yourself.

Can you try it with another theme that allows comments on posts?

Please send a screenshot of the settings to me at ajaydsouza dot com

    I found the solution!! *happydance*
I activated the option in WP “only registred readers can submit comments” when I was on vacation and did’nt change it back.

Thank you so much for your help!

Excellent solution for keeping conversations open while holding spam down to a dull murmur … thanks.

    Hi Ajay,

I know how hard you must have worked on your plugin and I bet it works a treat.

The problem I have with it, and others of its type, is that it turns me off of so many blogs it is untrue.

If I search the net for a solution to a problem and I find the perfect post, but I have a question, what do I do if the comments are shut off? Go to the most recent post and say in the comments “remember that post you made last year, can you answer a question?”

I think people are too paranoid about spam, if you get it just delete it. That way you don’t loose readers or customers just because they turned up at an old post.

Thats my moan out of the way, LOL

    Take care

    Costa

I normally encounter this situation. If my question is so important, I usually contact the blogger via their contact form. This plugin is more of a choice. I’ve in the past closed posts because I didn’t want any questions on it.
