We’ve partnered with Bluehost

When I first started a website in mid 2000, I was young with no money to invest in expensive hosting plans or domains. Those were the days of ad-supported free hosting accounts and I remember changing hosts several times in the next three years.

I did get my own domain (this one that you’re on) in October 2003 as well as my first paid hosting at the same time. It’s been nearly 10 years and I’ve had a fair share of hosting account changes until about a few years back.

I stumbled upon Bluehost around 2009 and was able to get hold of a 3 year account on a discount. It expired last year and I didn’t hesitate a second to renew the same for another three years and this time at full price!

This blog is not hosted on Bluehost, because the traffic and CPU usage is too high to be hosted on a shared hosting account. This blog is hosted a VPS I have with Future Hosting. However my site on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is hosted on Bluehost, as well as my photo site and my test blog for my plugins.
BlueHost

This is why I have partnered with Bluehost and am happy to recommend their services to anybody who is looking for a reliable cost effective host. The banner above has our affiliate link, which means if you follow this link and ultimately decide to host with Bluehost, I receive a commission. That’s one of the ways in which I support this site.

That being said, I strongly believe that Bluehost is one of the best shared hosting services in the market today, which is why I have several sites sitting in my account with them.

If you get yourself an account, here’s what you get with Bluehost:

  • Unlimited Domain Hosting
  • Unlimited GB Hosting Space
  • Unlimited GB File Transfer
  • Unlimited E-mail Accounts
  • Free Domain
  • Free Site Builder w/ templates
  • Secure Shell, SSL, FTP, Stats
  • CGI, Ruby (RoR), Perl, PHP, MySQL
  • $100 Google Advertising Offer
  • 24/7 Phone, Chat & Email Support

Bluehost has complete integration with WordPress, including one click installation and upgrades. I love that they use cPanel as the base. I have tried Plesk and Webmin and I find cPanel as the best control panel that allows you to quickly and easily manage your hosting account. In fact I have WHM/cPanel installed on my VPS.

A really cool feature I like is what they call CPU throttling. It ensures that any scripts on your account don’t go crazy and consume all the resources. Eating up resources on a CPU is the quickest way to get your account disabled and with Bluehost you won’t have to worry about most accounts.

If you’re serious about starting your own site or already have one and are looking to switch providers, I highly recommend Bluehost. You won’t regret hosting with them.
