A lot has happened since then, and I’ll just be summarizing a few of the main events in this post.

To begin with, we had our foundation course exams. Principles of Management is a sure flunk, and that’s the case of most of the batch.

My maths paper ended up with hundreds of silly mistakes and clearing this seems to be a bleak possibility.

The financial accounting paper was an objective one of which we got the results the same day. Passed!

The other papers seems to be a case of pass as of now, so lets see how that goes. Results are out any of these days.

Aditya wanted to pick up his laptop from his uncle’s place in Mumbai, so I accompanied him on a Monday. It was a quick stopover at my place to pick up more clothes. Our laundry guy is quite a pain in the neck and take a long time to give the clothes. I’ve started washing all my clothes including the shirts and pants by myself.

The next event on the list was Milaap. Milaap is the “welcoming” session that juniors throw for seniors. It is supposed to be a cultural event, something I keep my hands out of.
Was asked to design the online invitation and send it out to all the faculty and staff, which I did. Was then called on to bring the costumes from Pune. Akshat and Gunjan accompanied me on this journey. It was my first trip to Pune, though I didn’t see much of it. Got two whole years for that, though I prefer getting back to Mumbai if I have time.

Last week also saw our very first FCQ, which is a Fortnightly Conducted Quiz. All we are told is the date and timings of the FCQs. We come to know about the exam only when we sit for it.
The two exams were ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and Basics of Economics. Got the result for the first today, scored an 18 on 20, which is a good start.

The Lil’ Mouse dropped in to say hi to me over last weekend, which was rather cute, since I haven’t seen anybody in Mumbai since I came here, except for the quick Mumbai trip.

I’m also in the Website committee working to rebuild the SCMHRD Website.

For a few who know, I started out in the field of web design with a site on Sherlock Holmes. This was way back in 2000.

Over the years, this website underwent several transformations and names.

All the time it steadily rose the ranks of Sherlock Holmes websites and today is at the very top of the charts at Sherlock Holmes Web and has been there since early 2004.

Early this year I got together with Melody to give the site a much needed revamp.

And revamp indeed. Got rid of an ancient frames design and designed a tableless CSS design. Have put up all the original content, and there is a lot more to be added gradually.

In addition also started a new TopSites for all mystery related sites. Well, the only site in it today is mine, but if you are run a similar mystery related site do join our topsites.

Also generated a Google Sitemap (more on this in an article I plan to write) and redirected all the .html pages to the .php equivalents (had ported the site from HTML to PHP to save bandwidth and make it dynamic)

Only once the handover is complete, will I be able to leave.

That seems normal, except that hardware just refuses to work!

Sometimes I guess life as a software designer would be a lot easier. Atleast I know that when something isn’t working as it is, then most probably it is a logic problem.

Here, after verifying all the firmware and logic the damn hardware fails!

For one, I have reduced the number of posts displayed on the index page in order to speed up initial loading time. (used the Custom Query String plugin for this). The archives still show the default ten posts per page.

Spent whole of Thursday at the vendor’s location (thankfully in Andheri).

Spent Friday and Saturday mornings out there as well, inspite of it being official holidays

However, the rest of the weekend from Saturday evening to Sunday night was all play

Had to go for the Li’l White Mouse‘s birthday party in the evening. Her birthday was on 15th, but being a weekday she was celebrating it today.

First met up with Anjali because I wanted to buy a gift for the Li’l White Mouse. We had to leave by 5pm but knowing Anjali and since she wanted to wait for Stephanie, we ended up leaving at 6.10pm without Stephanie.

Couldn’t find anything in our area and so we went to Alfa in Irla to pickup chocolates. Picked up the highly overhyped and horribly expensive but a fantastic gift viz. Ferrero Rocher.

We finally reached the Li’l White Mouse’s place post 8pm which was really late!

Found that I was one of the oldest and the only non-Xavierite, which basically meant being left out of 90% of their conversation! However, did make a few new pals and chit chatted with them a bit (and made Madam C very jealous with exagerrated stories about them )

We got back a lift home by Shawn, one of Anjali’s pals. But before that we headed off to Bandstand around 12am and were there till 1 in the morning !

Reached home and hit the bed almost immediately. Woke up at 10.30am and had to meet Madam C by 11.30.

Got ready quickly and left for Bandra. Met her and we headed to Fame Adlabs to watch The Longest Yard.

Paul “Wrecking” Crewe was a revered football superstar back in his day, but that time has since faded. But when a messy drunk driving incident lands him in jail, Paul finds he was specifically requested by Warden Hazen (James Cromwell), a duplicitous prison official well aware of Paul’s athletic skills. Paul has been assigned the task of assembling a team of convicts, to square off in a big football game against the sadistic guards. With the help of fellow convict Caretaker, and an old legend named Nate Scarborough to coach, Crewe is ready for what promises to be a very interesting game. It’s only the warden and the guards who have no idea who or what they’re up against, with Paul the driving force behind the new team.

Have been seeing the posters of this for quite a while and so had decided to watch it. Well can say I really loved the movie. The acting simply rocks. The movie is highly hilarious and is well packed with action, drama and comedy.
Adam Sandler as usual amazes as an actor and he is very well backed up by Chris Tucker and the rest of the cast.

Before the movie we went to Pizza Hut for lunch in Lokhandwala. Feasted on their new Freshizza Meal for 2, which is our new favorite.

Just as we came out of the theatre, we found out that a woman had jumped to her death in the building adjacent to Fame Adlabs. The news came in the paper next day. Well we didn’t have guts to go check out what had happened as blood and death really horrifies me!

Dropped Madam C home and then headed back.

Went for the 6pm mass and after this took James, Austin, Amita and Aurenstein to Zodiac as my birthday treat. Anjali ditched at the last moment. X-(

Reached home around 9.30pm and hit the beds as I knew I had a long week ahead.

Had choir practice on Monday and A. Anita treated us as it was her birthday last Sunday.

Went out with Anjali on Thursday evening for soup to Lom Chings. I only like the place because of the soup. Not much for their dinner.

This once in a while outings with my pals keeps me uptodate with their lives, though I know my girlfriend isn’t always very pleased that I go out with other girls. Well, she’s a real sweetheart and trust is something our relationship is built on so well… no problems so far

Didn’t go for practice on Friday because I was really very irritated on some situation that had cropped up on Friday. Won’t post about it here because it would be bad publicity for those it concerns.

Saturday was the much awaited weekend as usual. Woke up nice and late.

Had to rush to the bank because of this. Visited my barber for a haircut and shave and after a quick wash rushed off to meet Madam C.

Since there wasn’t any good movie running we just decided to go for lunch at Lucky’s. After a good lunch (yes, her eyes are still bigger than her stomach) we went to Bandstand.

Placed turned out to be rather hot, being mid-afternoon, so we went to Reclamation which has a kindoff subway. Unfortunately, there happened to be some film shooting running there and we weren’t allowed there. And we were too bored to leave by then, so we just hung out along the wall there until nearly 4.15pm.

Left her home early as she was off to Khandala with her choir pals for a picnic.

Went to Melody‘s house after this for a while before heading back home.

Woke up early this Sunday morning to go for 9.30am mass. Dropped Rhea home after mass and then went home. Had a late breakfast and so skipped lunch.

Spent a good deal of the afternoon working on WebberZone as well as the graphics for Canossa.
Went there in the evening. They like my work. Just few modifications.

Few hours left for today. Plan on going to bed early today. Yet another long tiring work week begins tomorrow.

Am quite pleased receiving it, as I expected to take a while.

Just have to finish the formalities.

Designation: Design Executive

A brand new look with a slightly different shade of blue. I scrapped many unused scripts like the newsletter and the forum. I added a tell-a-friend.

A major addition has been a wallpaper on “The Passion of the Christ“. You can get it from here.

I have also revamped the Freeware Archive. Changed to an easier to use but very good PaFileDB. Now the major work that remains is adding the programs to the archive, which I don’t think I will be doing for a few months at least! :-S
