The Day the Earth Stood Still starring Keanu Reeves is a remake of the 1951 classic starring Michael Rennie.

The basic storyline is pretty same as the original movie, of course with major graphic updates and slight divergence from the story.

In the original movie, Klaatu lands on earth is a space ship and the moment he lands, he is shot by a jittery soldier. The remake begins with a group of scientists being brought together and are told about an object heading towards earth at a speed one tenth that of light with the fear of a sure shot collision and possible destruction of the Manhattan. Klaatu gets shot, though we don’t know by whom and is rushed to hospital.

Another major change from the original story line is Klaatu taking out the assumed identity of Mr. Carpenter in the original and here he maintains his own name. Also in the original, Jacob takes to Klaatu, while in the new movie he hates him initially.

I won’t go on with the rest of the story because then there isn’t much to watch. Overall it is a one time watch. Keanu presents his usual placid style of acting. The special effects are spectacular as is the audio.

Seeing the high rating of WALL-E on IMDB, we decided to go watch WALL-E.

Got tickets only for the front most row, but it was well worth it!

WALL-E tells the story of a simple a garbage collecting robot has been left to clean up the mess left all the waste created by a powerful multi-national Buy N Large corporation.

The humans abandon earth and go off into space. They send a probe back to earth, a cute female robot called Eva.

WALL-E meets Eva as she hunts for life on earth and collect a small plant found by WALL-E. Following her directive, Eva goes into standby mode and is soon picked up by the returning probe. In an attempt to be with Eva, WALL-E manages to hitchhike a ride on the probe. And, thus begins a story well told!

WALL-E is a really cute and fun movie to watch either by yourself, with friends or with your family. We didn’t stop laughing at the several comedy scenes as WALL-E tries to woo Eva.

It also raises a rather serious concern, that of a fast deteriorating planet that could very soon be covered by waste if we don’t wake up today and do something about it!

Imax Adlabs offers special Rs.49 prices for movie tickets in some shows before 6pm.
So, went off to watch Transformers in the Imax Dome.

Excellent experience, but the fast paced movie was kinda overwhelming.

Transformers tells the story of Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), a young teenager who convinces his father to buy him a car, a car that would change his life.
The car turns out to be Bumblebee, an Autobot sent to protect him from the Decepticons. Both, the Autobots and the Decepticons are after the Allspark, a cube, with the power to create life. While the Autobots had managed to smuggle the Allspark off their planet, Megatron, the head of the Decepticons followed the Allspark to earth, but crashed before he could retrieve the same. Megatron was later found by Captain Archibald Witwicky, the grandfather of young Sam.

The story continues in perfect predictable style with Sam joining the Autobots in their fight against Megatron and the other Decepticons.

Overall the movie is done really well. Sam plays a really good role and talking robots … who wouldn’t love them

Worth watching once. Nice cars and vehicles to watch. Its fun. However, I do suggest a flat screen!
