Ronald has been quick at pushing through three updates to Ajax Edit Comments in the past week.
WP Ajax Edit Comments allows users and admins to edit comments on a post. Users can edit their own comments for a limited time, while admins can edit all comments.
The following are the changes in the three updates.
- Fixed a “delink” bug where the option is still available after the comment has been delinked.
- Added an advanced view to the admin’s edit panel. It allows date editing, and allows you to mark a comment from the edit panel.
- You can turn off this feature using the admin panel under the Individual Options.
- Added a feature for anonymous users that allows them to request deletion of a comment. Upon request, the comment is placed in the moderation queue and the blog’s admin is sent an e-mail of the request. This feature can be turned off in the admin panel options.
Very cool to see Ronald committing code here and there. Saw his tweets but didn’t think he was working on AEC, still among one of my favorite all time plugins. One of the features that I find pretty cool is the ability to request deletion of a comment. Keep up the good work you two.
And, there is a lot more planned 🙂
I’ve been looking for this plugin all over the Internet and came across it through smashingmagazine.com. Need it for a site I’m working on, hope it works out. Good job guys!
\”Edit comments\” in Google helps 😉
Glad to know you’ve decided to use it. Do give it a shout out on your blog.
Very good plugin!!
How do I see what they put in for their reason to delete the comment? How do I even see if they requested it to be deleted vs. just being unapproved?
There is no \”unapprove\” feature. However, you can choose to unapprove a comment after noting which was was asked for deletion
I’m referring to the three sub-categories for comments that WordPress has, Spam, Unapproved, and Approved. All that happens when a comment is requested to be deleted is the comment is marked as “Unapproved”. What is suppose to happen?
P.S. WordPress tells me there is a new version 184.108.40.206 What are the new features in it?
What happens is that a user can \”request deletion\”
The comment is moved to the moderation queue and you receive an email (similar to what you would get for moderated comments) asking you to take action.
You can then choose to approve it again, delete or declare it as spam.
Also, 220.127.116.11 has a new move feature which allows an admin to move a comment from one post to another.
