Thank you Mrs. D’Souza

This post is 3 weeks overdue. But, like they say, better late than never!

Some of you might know that I celebrated my birthday on August 16. And, this time around, Ashwina decided that she was going to spare no expense, which works perfectly to my advantage ;)

The first thing amongst them all was my Bose QC20 noise cancelling headphones. Although, they are on the expensive side, you definitely get what you paid for. Once you switch them on, it filters out all the noise perfectly. The real test for this was when I carried them along with me on the Jubilee line, which by far is the noisiest train line!

And, she didn’t stop there. The next on the list of gifts was super cool, very trendy Hugo Boss watch. It’s a personality increase just by wearing it.

And the next on the list is a something that I’ve had my eyes on for a few months and debated for a month. The MacBook Air 13-inch. I spent a long time deliberating on what laptop to buy. I debated between getting a Windows 8 Ultrabook and shortlisted the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. It’s really an awesome tablet and worth buying. The other one I checked out was the Surface Pro 3, but it is simply too expensive for the specs you get. But, I ended up actually buying what I set out to buy in the first place, i.e. the Macbook Air 13-inch. I bought the Macbook Pro nearly 3 years ago and it soon became my primary laptop. The fact that it has a Unix base really helps me work on the development of my WordPress plugins very easily. Hence, the Air was a perfect companion. I wasn’t wrong because the first plugin that I released on this gorgeous machine is Contextual Related Posts v2.0.

Well, the gifts haven’t stopped, but who is complaining! I guess the title of my post sums up how I feel… Thank you Mrs. D’Souza :)

And it’s a decade of blogging!

Ashwina and I

Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of this blog. What started as an experiment to check out a new blogging tool called WordPress back in 2003 has become an integral part of my life.

I completed my engineering and worked as an engineer in one of the leading engineering companies from India. I then went out to do my MBA, became an investment Banker and relocated to London.

And, I married the most beautiful woman in the world. And even went on quite a few holidays!

WordPress became an integral part of my life as well. My theme became famous and my plugins have a fantastic user base.

And, I have plans to make this better!

How long have you been blogging?

A year older… and a lot wiser…

It’s my birthday today! With that, I edge just one year away from three-tenths of a century.

And, as a gift to met, I’ve spent a good portion of the night working on a new theme for this blog, one which was long pending.

After a lot of searching I came across Paperpunch Theme by The Theme Foundry which I fell in love with almost instantly.

Paperpunch is a clean and easy to use theme, yet comes packed with some decent free features. You can upgrade to the Pro version which makes life a lot easier!

My plugin Add to Footer definitely made life a bit easier, since I didn’t need to add in a lot of code for my analytics.
However, the theme required a good amount of modification to capture my header and sidebar, pages, comments and other features that I have maintained across themes across several years. Not to forget the ads that help sustain this blog.

Lastly, SexyBookmarks WordPress Plugin does deserve a major mention for it is extremely feature rich and with minimal interference allows you to share content of this blog with your friends through the most popular social networking sites. You are recommending these posts, aren’t you?

I’ve also included a neat little array of buttons at the top of each post, you can quickly share our posts on Facebook and Google Plus.

Until next time… do keep reading and do comment below and tell me if you like this new theme. If not, what can I do to improve it?

And, have you hit the like button at the bottom of this post to add Ajay – On the Road called Life to your Facebook favourites?

The movie birthday update

Last week I posted the list of movies that I plan on watching over the next 3 months. Am pleased that over the last two weekends (and this one is not over yet), I have managed to catch four movies:

And, here is the updated list of movies to watch:

I plan on watching either Piranha or Scott Pilgrim tomorrow. So, let’s see.

As for the birthday in the title, I “celebrated” my birthday last Monday. It isn’t much of a celebration when you’re sitting in office till 2am. Well, next year it will be chutti time.
