An Anniversary, a Birthday and a Journey

After a quiet two days at home, I finally ventured out on Sunday evening for mass. I?ve realized that I can spend days at home without evening stepping outside and not even think twice about it. Pizzas always get delivered, don?t they? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyway, Sunday the 4th also marked the 28th Wedding Anniversary of my parents and since Dad isn?t here I decided to take Mom out for dinner. However, she chose to order home and so be it. Dinner was Chicken Manchurian, Prawns Masala and Chicken Fried rice. We tried a smaller new restaurant near my place instead of the regular one I ordered. While the chicken was good,…

A Week in Pune and it’s Mumbai again

After a good long party, I went off to watch The Day the Earth stood Still on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday were relatively lighter days. Went off to McDonalds for dinner on Thursday. Was so exhausted, that I just crashed after coming back. Friday was lecture day with me attending a Strategic Marketing class. The strategic marketing class so far has been filled with cases which makes studying a pleasure. I hate subjects that require us to learn by rote and vomit it out at the exam. While theory is necessary, it is important that there are a good number of cases. The internet connection at college has been as…

    Room 103 – All Placed!

Those of you following me on Twitter would have seen a status message that read: Room 103 is the first room in college to get placed. Akshat and me were place by November 25 and late last Thursday night, we got the good news that Aditya too was placed. In fact he’s got an excellent job with one of the highest salaries in campus ๐Ÿ™‚ And, we are a hungry group. So, we booked a cab on Friday night and headed out to Stone Water Grill in Koregoan Park. This was recommended to us by a friend and it was a first visit to the place. Turned out to be…

After Fish Curry, it’s back to Pune

This post was scheduled for December 1st, but never ended up getting done. Met up with a friend atย Gajalee in Seepz for a sea food dinner. The prices there have already been steep and after the makeover, its gone steeper. However, must admit that one dish is enough to fill two persons. Ordered a sweet corn chicken soup followed by fish tikka masala and some chapatis. Caught the 6a.m. Volvo back to Pune, which has been my routine whenever I come here to Mumbai. Attended lectures in the evening. They are so few that they don’t seem very interesting. However, we have to attend. Sneha‘s boy was down so we…

    Shopping and Church

Fourth semester at SCMHRD is one of the most relaxed semesters. We have Neev just around the corner and so I am relatively free. Decided to go to church today. Maria was pleased since she has been after me to do so for a long long time! Am sure my Mom too was pleased. Today was the feast of Christ the King as well as it happens to be my brother’s birthday. The feast of Christ the King marks the end of the liturgical year. This is usually a big event in my church back in Mumbai. Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. I can finally start playing…

    Back to Mumbai after Exams

My last post was in Mumbai. And here I am back again posting from my home city. Returned to Pune after Diwali vacation on 30th itself to make sure that we study for the Corporate Finance and Software Project Management exams on 1st. Well, study we did, but managed to mess up SPM ๐Ÿ™ The rest of the week passed by with some good, some bad and some really really ugly papers. Well, January 3rd is the tentative date for the results. Had originally planned on leaving for Mumbai on 10th itself. However, I had to attend a student interaction session by the NAAC team. Symbiosis International University is currently…

SAS, FSA and SCM. There’s more…

Went out on Sunday night to Mezza9. Ate and drank well ๐Ÿ™‚ After strugging for three days with SAS, we finalized and gave our presentation on Monday. On Tuesday we had our Financial Statement Analysis re-mid term. I missed the original exam due to the CGN Thought Process Improvement workshop. Prepared well for it. Can’t afford to risk an important exam in finance. Today was a relatively lighter day and spent some time blogging. Finished our International Economics report and now have to work on my Supply Chain Modeling assignment due tomorrow. There is an Mergers and Acquisitions valuation that also needs to be done by weekend along with yet…

    Pain in the SAS

Have spent the last two days working on a SAS presentation that is scheduled for this evening. Our topic is Business Decision Making in FMCG industry using SAS Enterprise Miner. Everything would have been fine and hunky dory, except that we do not know anything in SAS! So, the last two days has been a desperate attempt of learning Enterprise Miner. SAS and Enterprise Miner are both extremely complicated softwares to work with without formal training. In addition to this, we had to find our own data. Are we in MBA-II or is this self-paced learning? The funniest part of the whole exercise is that his part is supposed to…

    Ten Busy Days

The last week has be very crazy. Having worked on our Financial Statement Analysis, we finally submitted the same on October 2. Our presentation was rescheduled for 8th due to the upcoming summer placements. Spent Saturday, Sunday and Monday cooped up in the vipasana hall working at the helpdesk for the summer placements of the juniors. I’m not at liberty to discuss this, but I can say that we did a good amount of work, spent a good amount of time doing all kinds of activities and lastly eating and drinking till we burst! ๐Ÿ˜€ 8th was a packed day. Woke up early in the morning to give a 7am…
