[…]have kept bugs away (at least during my travels). What’s in store for 2024 I don’t make any New Year’s resolutions because I know I won’t keep them. However, I do aim to achieve a few things every year. This year, my key focus is to build up Beyond Develop. This will involve building pro versions for my two most used plugins and more frequent and smaller updates for the others. I’m also hoping to land one or two small projects where I can use my WordPress expertise. This should hopefully turn a profit in the first year. I still have […]

[…]of this blog with a new look from scratch. The old template has been there for well over a year (with modifications), and a change was needed. I have still retained some portion of the sidebar look as it goes well even with the new theme. I have disabled a good number of plugins, going with my idea of keeping plugins to the minimum. All posts now include Tabber which was pointed out to me by Everton. You can now view the related posts, search this site directly, view the next and previous post as well as read more about […]
And what a year has it been! I’d like to wish you a Happy New Year 2021! Continuing my very long–standing tradition, below is a snapshot of my life in 2020. Life We started 2020 in India and have ended it in the UK. We started the year with freedom of movement and ended the year in Tier 4 restrictions (a kinder word for lockdown). One thing I hoped for at the start of last year was to get my driving license, which I’m pleased to say I did. We then went out to purchase a nice car that would accompany us […]
[…]the point of resolutions when you don’t keep them, right? On work… 2015 started out to be a year like any other year, busy and in fact ended as busy as it started. However, that being said a good portion of the year was definitely better with me stepping up my role and desperately fighting to maintain a work-life balance. On life… 2015 was a great year on the life front. We started off the year by moving into a new larger flat in the area. It was a long pending decision and we finally took the plunge trading our […]

[…]through my list of posts for the past two years, I realised that I completely missed out a Happy New Year post for 2017. Can’t miss that two years in a row now, can we? 2017 – A Year in Review Life… I began 2017 in India, more specifically being ill in Bangalore where I (as did Ashwina) spent a good portion of the holiday in bed recovering from bad allergy attacks. Apparently I can’t handle the pollen and pollution anymore! At least it got better when I got back to Mumbai where we were soon well enough to attend […]
[…]and happy year bringing you and your family good health and a lot of happiness! 2014 – Year in Review A year ago, I posted my 2013 year in review. Back then I set some personal goals and I must admit that I managed to miss most of them! (Note to self: Revisit year in review posts during the year). However, I am glad that I managed to keep at least a few of them and progressed on several of them. Although we didn’t visit the US and Canada this year due to a sudden change in plans, Ashwina and I made a visit to Cornwall and […]
[…]all my dedicated readers a Very Very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2010! How did you bring in the new year? I spent it quietly at home. Looking back at 2009, I must say that it has been a rather successful year for me on all fronts. While I may not have achieved most of the goals I set for Techtites, it was definitely a lot better than 2008. I have refrained from setting any goals for this blog, primarily because it serves as a personal blog. At this time of the year, I normally make a very detailed post […]
[…]up the readings. Next went off to pick up my sexy new trousers which were ready just in time for New Year’s mass. I got ready and went off for mass. We started the Thanksgiving service a bit late, and I did my readings, which went off rather well (IMHO). Next was mass which was said by a very fabulous, young, energitic prient named Fr. Gilbert Lima, who gave a beautiful sermon on love. Did I tell you that we were singing for mass? This went off rather well for me, inspite of not having gone for practise on Tuesday. […]
Happy New Year to all my blog readers. How did you celebrate your New Year? I decided to take it light this year and only went for the midnight mass with my family. Had plans on morning mass, but just later changed my mind. We did have pizza last night before mass 🙂 The mass was good but long as expected. 2006 has been a long and good year for my parish with a good deal of achievements. 2007 has been declared the year for the marginalized. Unfortunately, couldn’t get any good photos because of the bad lighting etc. A […]
[…]bought myself, a new spectacles frame, with anti-glare lens. This isn’t exactly for Xmas or New Year, but the timing is good. I also plan on buying myself contact lens after I narrow down on my choice. (Sadly 🙁 I will have to pay for this, but I believe it an invest worth making) Next on the list was a trouser matching my blazer. Went off to Cambridge in Andheri West to buy one (same place I bought the blazer from). We found one, but being the tally I am, I needed to find something longer or get it stitched. […]

[…]during one and it came out very good. Went off to U. Conrad’s place after mass to bring in the New Year there. The party was good fun as it usually is. Had to restrict myself to only water and cold drinks would be very cold for me. As usual, food was delicious and I ate a good amount. Danced a great deal. Did the jive, salsa, waltz and the cha cha cha uptil four in the morning. Am learning a lot of dance; you never know when you will need it. Returned home by 4am. Sleeping has been a […]

[…]Toubro and will now soon be confirmed to the Executive cadre 😀 Must say it has been a fantastic year. Have learnt a real lot in this last one year and have been given good responsibility. Never really expected to like designing but today I love it and will definitely stick with it for a while. And then again after I became a Management Trainee I have had a lot more to look forward to […]
Yesterday was the first working day of the year and I am glad that the year started of on a good note. Have been struggling with something all of last week and yesterday it worked ! Had a small office get-to-gether yesterday during office which was pretty mediocre. Didn’t expect otherwise, but was a welcome break from work. Left at 6.15pm from work yesterday as timings were increased. Surprisingly there wasn’t much traffic and I reached home well before 8pm much to the shock of my mom. Made it for choir practice. There weren’t many persons there to practice and […]
[…]I’ve always wanted to come down for a holiday to New York and this one has eluded me for several years. New York, I’m here! Ashwina and I took our annual holiday to India in March this year. We stayed at the ITC Maratha in Mumbai for more than a week followed by a trip to Mangalore and then Pune. We then had two weddings to attend – one in Athens and the second in Helsinki. But, I must admit that I’ve been waiting very eagerly to come to New York. We were quite late in getting much of our […]
[…]turned out to have some really good food in well-sized portions. Remains the best food I ate in New York. After the failed attempt to view New York from Top of the Rock, we decided to try again. It seems like many others also had the same idea as we only got tickets for little over an hour later. We figured out getting some other things out of the way to kill time. Primarily taking a walk down 6th avenue to find our way to Grand Central Station. Grand Central Station is yet another landmark in New York that would […]
[…]The latest ones could also do with many feature additions. So stay tuned for a few releases 🙂 New look for Techtites I’ve also been working on a brand new look for Techtites. With the help of Moin, I’ve been able to revamp the entire site to a much better template. Have spent a good portion of the week working on the template. The first and major step was making the theme ready for WordPress 2.7 commenting system. There’s still much to be done, especially the sidebar. Better ad placements has also meant a better click thru and so a […]
[…]plugin will receive a good portion of my time daily. I have currently updated the plugin with the new ownership details and svn upped the same in the WordPress Repository. Many of you would have been able to update the plugin from within your WordPress Admin. This version includes no changes other than the change in ownership and the new plugin page, readme.txt and other details. Ronald has already redirected all links on his site to the plugin page out here on my blog, so if you’re wondering why you are here suddenly, this is probably the reason. Support for […]
[…]domain AjayDSouza.info, I decided to move the location for my photos. In fact, until August last year, AjayDSouza.info served as a secondary location for displaying my photos. It was powered by a script that fetched my albums from Flickr. However, I wasn’t too pleased by the script and so didn’t bother to promote the site. I decided to hunt for a new script today and came across Glickr. Glickr is an extremely easy to use, smal, but very powerful script for displaying photos from Flickr. AjayDSouza.info will now serve as the primary location for display of my photos. With a […]

Lastly, SexyBookmarks WordPress Plugin does deserve a major mention for it is extremely feature rich and with minimal interference allows you to share content of this blog with your friends through the most popular social networking sites. You are recommending these posts, aren’t you? I’ve also included a neat little array of buttons at the top of each post, you can quickly share our posts on Facebook and Google Plus. We have finally bought a new television. After researching and visiting a lot of stores, we narrowed down to Plugin, which is near my place. We purchased the Samsung CZ-21K5 (don’t ask me what this stands for) Features include: Pure Flat TV 200 Programs 300W PMPO 5 Band Graphic Equalizer Basically, it’s packed with many features. However, I have just DD1 and DDNews, i.e. no cable and so having 200 channels is kinda useless. Maybe in the distant future… I still have to connect my VCD Player to the TV so that finally I can watch my VCDs on the […]

Today, October 1, 2003. I just installed my new blog using WordPress. This is the start of a long-awaiting personal website. I am still thinking on a a name for the site, however, I wanted to create a semi-formal site and hence believe this blog will add the informality to my normally professional sites. I am not much of a writer, so I may be writing about once a week or whenever in the mood. Will close this short entry about now, as I not have to go to bed. There’s a long day ahead tommorrow (though it is already […]
After the closing down of DistantHost, I have been forced to shift to paid hosting. So that’s exactly what I have done. Bought a $40/yr package from Dr2.net after recommendations from friends at SurfUnion Also purchased the domain AjayDSouza.com from GoDaddy for $8.75/yr Now all that remains is designing the site around it. This blog is also being shifted there as I post. I can use the space at Mg2 for some other site of mine 🙂 Will keep posting updates as the site […]

[…]after we settled our bills at the guesthouse, we hired cabs and headed to what will become our new home. I hired a Meru cab, which is more easily available here in Bangalore than in Mumbai, where you struggle to find one. It was a nice comfortable journey. At the same time, my goods from Mumbai also arrived. Was a little irritated that the boxes weren?t plastic coated like they were supposed to be and one box had broken open. The bike handle was also bent a bit. Will have to get this fixed. First, I got to get the […]
Finally! After many many months, I have updated my site MegaThemes. A brand new look with a slightly different shade of blue. I scrapped many unused scripts like the newsletter and the forum. I added a tell-a-friend. A major addition has been a wallpaper on “The Passion of the Christ“. You can get it from here. I have also revamped the Freeware Archive. Changed to an easier to use but very good PaFileDB. Now the major work that remains is adding the programs to the archive, which I don’t think I will be doing for a few months at least! […]
If you’re reading this in your feed reader, then hit this link now. I mentioned earlier that I moved this blog to Media Temple yesterday. However, on monitoring the same, I have realized that I am still not at optimum levels. I’m not really sure what the reason for the super high resource usage is, but it is usually the themes and the plugins. So, as a test, I have decided to change the theme in an attempt to find a really light one. One of my most read blogs is Weblog Tools Collection, and in a recent post, I […]
Though WordPress does provide users the ability to search your blog, it is highly limited in any features. Additionally, all it does is a simple search for the term and lists the post in descending order of their post dates. It may so happen that a user may not even find a relevant search result. This is where Better Search comes in. Weblog Tools Collection has an improved search system that allows users to search for posts based on their content and relevance. I’ve adapted the code by Mark into a plugin for easy installation on your WordPress blog. Better […]
Last week I gave you Contextual Related Posts and Moderation Author Notify. Have spent almost the whole of this week rewriting Mark’s original Top 10 plugin. And, that sure has been a rather interesting, frustrating and of course fulfilling journey in PHP in general and WordPress in particular and I still believe I’ve not even scratched the surface of PHP, SQL and WordPress! Anyway, I began with duplicating the original functionality of the plugin, however, ensuring that this strictly followed the latest Plugin API recommended by WordPress. So, a few things that were changed / added were: The table to […]

Here’s one more plugin to my ever growing arsenal. Add to Footer is a simple plugin that allows you to automatically add text or HTML to you theme’s footer. The plugin provides you with a simple text box into which you can copy your the HTML into. As an additional feature, Add to Footer also comes inbuilt with support for Google Analytics, StatCounter, Reinvigorate and Apture. If you use any of these services, you can fill in the relevant details in the plugins options page and the plugin will add the necessary code for the same on your blog. These […]

Still have a bad cough and I am going to sing for New Year:O Went off for a shave today and my barber asked me if I look back to 2004 with happiness or sorrow. Looking back, I can see that despite the downs in my life, I have had a great year. Have done really well academically, started of work in an amazing company, have made so many new friends (though I did lose many), watched an amazing amount of movies:O and generally had a ball of a time. This year I’ve set a target of 40 books and as we close out January, I’ve finished four books and am currently reading my 5th book. As I didn’t mention the 20 books that I read since August, I thought I’d use this post as a summary to update you on what I’ve been reading for the past 5 months. If you’ve been following my last few reading updates, you’ll know that I am a big fan of series […]
[…]a good deal of it partying with the Goan Association gettogether, the Christmas dance and the New year celebrations, besides a lot of outings, dinners and movies! Overall I think this year was pretty good. Except for a few frustrating moments and times when things didn’t work out, I have done a lot. Work has been tiring but I have learnt and established a good deal. On the personal front I know I have grown in many ways. I have made many more friends but lost a few :(. On the social front I have been overactive! Have definitely improved […]
[…]drive in during those days. Helps avoid close interactions in the overcrowded tube and bus. This year is an important year, so wish me luck! Health It’s probably the first time I’ve put a separate a separate category for this. I started the year in recovery after a turbinate reduction operation which has massively improved my breathing. I still have to undertake a sleep study in the next couple of months but we’ll cross that bridge then. In February, I got diagnosed with appendicitis and as luck would have it, the issue wasn’t straightforward that is most familiar to everyone. […]

[…]meetups incredibly fun. Getting ready for WCEU I had planned to attend WordCamp London last year, but it was cancelled due to costs. So, this year, I decided to take the plunge and book my way to Turin to attend WCEU 2024. I booked my flights and hotel in February. I had hesitated to book the hotel and could not get the NH Lingotto, which was closest to the venue. I booked the AC Hotel which is about 10 minutes away and was still available at a discount. I used my last Amex voucher along with my miles to book […]

[…]gradually over several days! Unlike other years, Ashwina and I decided to spend 2019 Christmas and New Year in India. We were also celebrating my dad’s mother’s 90th birthday, albeit a few months after she turned 90! We also had Dad and Arun coming down from Toronto along with Ferdy and his family. After long and busy 2019, we were definitely looking forward to spending some quiet time with family and friends which I’m pleased that we were able to. […]to wrap up this post, here’s what I have been up to recently: Vincent and me when shopping for a new laptop he needed to buy. We ended up picking up the Gateway ID series laptop. It is a really beautiful high-end laptop at just about 50K. As for me, I’m a Dell person. This December, my beautiful, but now old, Inspiron 6400 should get a much needed cleanup. I hope Dell support is as good as it was a year back! We also attempted to visit the Pizza Hut in Forum, but they are under renovation. So, we ate […]

If you’re in Edinburgh, then you have to make a trip to Edinburgh Castle. Located at one end of the Royal Mile, the site of the castle dates back to 9the century BC, with early reports of […]
Little above a year back, a young man of 20 something, having finished a year at his new job, received the good news of his secondment to London. In preparation for his six weeks in London, the young man set out to a few shops in the city to buy the necessary attire for the new job profile that he would be in. On 3 May 2010, this young man took his first long haul flight from Bangalore to London. As he walked out of the airplane and took the cab to his apartment, he fell in love with the […]

This year, I booked my tickets in early August to take advantage of prices when booking early. I must admit that I am sceptical of this so called price advantage! Come December, as expected the pressures at work go through the roof as everyone tries to complete 31 days work in 15 before Europe and the UK starts to slow down for the holiday period. In my line of work, the word […]
[…]sing for a mini-fest that happens every year. Was really shocked to see how low scale it was this year. I guess this was probably because we had other major church activities this year. The choir wasn’t at full strength, many had sore voices, but I think we came out quite well. Just that we were singing to an almost empty audience! Dropped Madam A off to a friends place after the singing before heading back home. Had planned on visiting a doctor but I think I’m doing fine. Have to go to work now. The last week of this […]

[…]you’re an existing user, do consider writing a review of the plugin on WordPress.org. New Admin Page The admin page has a brand new look that should fit better with your WordPress admin area. The settings have now been upgraded to the Settings API. The page groups the various settings into a tabbed WordPress interface. This is a major change how settings are handled by the plugin and if you’ve just upgraded, please make sure you visit the plugin settings page and check that all […]
[…]for our entire stay there. On the second day, we set out on the Southwest Coast Path towards New Polzeath. Although the distance via the Path was not significant, it was quite intense at some places due to sharp inclines and declines. I did remember some of the landscape from our previous trip – there have hardly been any changes over the past several years. Three days later we went out for a hike to The Rumps, which is a twin-headland promontory just a short distance from the cottage. During our last visit, we had bypassed this as we chose […]
[…]me to configure the SEO settings, one feature I enjoyed is the readability analysis. But, over the years, the plugin has it has also grown in size and included ads and notifications. I have generally not minded these and understand the need to monetize. However, when you delete a post or almost anything else, the plugin displays an annoying notification. It prompts you to install the premium version of Yoast SEO to redirect the deleted content. I could live with this for a long time. However, the final straw came today as I spent a good portion of today going […]

Use these to add some new features that are missing. The way forward With v2.0.1, Top 10 is ready for the next phase of its development. Over the course of the next year, I plan on adding several free and premium addons that will bring additional features to Top 10 including caching, support for BOTs, cleaner top view pages and more. Top 10 will also find […]
[…]to Knole and exploring other parts of the estate – probably once the weather gets better next year. Sissinghurst Castle Garden This is a relatively new property compared to the other ones that we visited. Vita Sackville-West, the poet and writer, began transforming Sissinghurst Castle in the 1930s with her diplomat and author husband, Harold Nicolson. We spent a lot of time in the vegetable garden with our little one venturing out on foot on the soft grass. I also climbed all the way to the top of the tower to capture some photographs of the entire estate. And this […]
Christmas is the time of the year I’ve always looked out for. This year has been a very fulfilling year, which I shall write about in a future post. I took my core leave from 18 Dec to 3 Jan, which is the longest duration of leave that I have ever taken till date! Had booked the tickets in August itself, so it was only the matter of getting to the airport. Unlike last time, where my cab arrived early and the plane was late, I reached the airport at 10am on Friday. They have become a lot stricter at […]

[…]Foreland Lighthouse that was built in 1900. If you managed to get all the way down to my New Year post, you’ll have read that Ashwina and I are learning driving. I’ve made significant progress having driven comfortably across the narrow and wide roads of London. But, we’re still a bit away from getting our driving license. And, even if we did, I doubt that we would drive down this cottage. We took the GWR service from London Paddington before noon and changed at Exeter St Davids for Barnstaple. Coming here reminded me of our last trip in August 2016 […]
[…]on our annual visit to Mumbai and Pune on Feb 1. In 2018, we visited India in March. However, this year we decided to stick to our Feb schedule. To Mumbai We booked ourselves on premium economy with British Airways as this was the best deal we could find. Unfortunately, as I did the bookings in October, we couldn’t take advantage of the reward flights and the Amex BA voucher. Speaking about reward flights, I feel that British Airways has gotten quite miserly about them! I’ve always loved Heathrow Terminal 5 and we took advantage of my status to use […]

Conrado will be sending Clayton some in January, so I will add these here :). Conrado is Havilah’s cousin from Spain. Raven Black begins on New Year’s Eve with a lonely outcast named Magnus Tait, who stays home waiting for visitors who never come. But the next morning the body of a murdered teenage girl is discovered nearby, and suspicion falls on Magnus. Inspector Jimmy Perez enters an investigative maze that leads deeper into the past of the Shetland Islands than anyone wants to go. The story evolves across the book and has a few interesting twists keeping in Ann’s writing style. However, it is a bit of a slow […]
[…]day with this post. I do miss blogging like I used to. Techtites hasn’t seen a post in over a year although I have a few drafts pending. Over the past many years, it has always been a fight for time between coding, Netflix, Amazon, etc. when I’m on my Mac. Guess, I need to re-inspire myself to pick this up once more. Until then… Happy birthday to me […]

Yesterday I watched four back to back movies, breaking my record of three movies 🙂 In Time In a future where people stop aging at 25, but are engineered to live only one more year, having the means to buy your way out of the situation is a shot at immortal youth. Here, Will Salas finds himself accused of murder and on the run with a hostage – a connection that […]
[…]life associated Christmas. It is little wonder that I look forward to Christmas every year. This year, Christmas was different. Different because, for the first time in my life I was not at home for Christmas. I began Christmas this year by going to Westminster Cathedral for the 6pm mass on 24th. The church was decorated with a huge Christmas tree, but it was also rather cold, since Christmas Eve was cold this side of the world. Met up with a college pal for a quiet dinner. Was home before the clock struck 12. Pavlos had invited me over for […]
Looking back at 2006, I think the year went well. It has been a very healthy year for my blog for sure. I hit into the top 100,000 websites on Alexa and today stand in the top 50,000. Good achievement for a small blog of a small person on the WWW 🙂 But, I do have a very very fluctuating rank as you can see in the graph above. I know a lot of users believe that Alexa is flawed, and i think so too, but at the end of the day, its the rank that gets the advertisers! Site […]

Then came The Firm which likely launched Grisham into fame. Mitch McDeere thought he had found his dream job, a fancy home, a shiny brand-new BMW along with an amazing salary. If it’s too good to be true, it probably isn’t. I then entered the ruthless world of corporate law in The King of Torts followed by the harsh reality in The Appeal. […]the last two weeks of January to be on holiday. We flew to Bangalore overnight and landed at the new terminal, designed as a “terminal in the garden”. We had booked IndiGo for our flight to Pune. However, we discovered that we had to change terminals to the old one which was quite far away and required a bus ride. Fortunately, based on our experience, we hired two porters who helped us reach the terminal and get checked in without any hassle. The last time, we had a horrible experience with SpiceJet, which is now forever on our no-fly list. […]

When chatting with Topher more than a year ago, he suggested that I should write an essay for HeroPress. HeroPress tells the stories of people in WordPress. At the time of this post, nearly 250 people have told their life stories to the world. I am now one of them! If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you will read a lot about my life. My yearly reviews hint at what I have been working on i.e. my WordPress plugins. But, this is the first time I have written about my WordPress journey. Do read and comment. I’d love to hear from you. […]to avoid the mad rush and crazy prices. The raging pandemic made it a much easier decision this year. Ashwina booked a cottage called the Higher Brownstone Farm in Devon. This is a massive cottage close to Coleton Fishacre. Whilst we have been to Devon a few times including the lovely lighthouse cottage, this region has been off our radar until now. While the Coleton Fishacre house is from the 1920s, the Higher Brownstone Farm dates back to the 18th century and used to be occupied by a gentleman farmer. The house has been refurbished a few times especially to […]
[…]up with Cloreisha after a long long time at Mocha Mojo in Bandra. Mocha’s definitely has a whole new atmosphere now that hookahs have been banned in Mumbai. Another stupid rule after the “no serving alcohol to persons below 25”. I am waiting for Starbucks to set up shop in Mumbai. Dinner was back at my Grandma’s place, who is always enthusiastic to order in! So, I had my first taste of Indian Chinese cuisine after a long time. Last year, I had a very sad birthday stuck at work till 2am. This time was a lot different. I brought […]
[…]upload them to my Flickr album when I do so. Anyway, we reached college at 2.30am, which excluding New Year’s last year is one of the latest I’ve returned. The last few days have been as lazy as it has been. One extremely irritating thing is the lack of a proper internet connection because our excellent network folks (I shudder to use the word admin) are busy experimenting with the wifi adapters. I plan on writing a really dirty post about this so called “wifi connectivity” that is promised students out here. Made a 30 mark worth presentation yesterday for […]

But with Tess’s wedding coming on Saturday, the two have to find a way to switch back – and fast. My comments as usual. The acting of both Jamie and Lindsay are commendable. Lots of funny parts in the movie when the two have to behave their exact opposite due to the body switch. A few touching moments as well when you see the love they have for each other and their family despite […]

[…]Ellis Island. The journey to Ellis Island is also short and it looks just the same as it over 100 years ago when the first immigrants found their way into the land of opportunity. Ellis Island also has an excellent visual tour that tells all about immigration over several hundred years into America. There is actually quite a bit to see in Ellis Island, but we were quite tired by then having been on our feet for several hours. We decided to call it and headed to catch the ferry to Battery Park. Wall Street By then the clouds had […]

There were very few discounts than last year and very very limited choice, which made me want to scream out loud! Thankfully, none of that happened this year:O But, I couldn’t eat the chicken biryani Mom had made, as I was fasting, so I just got it out here to office for today’s lunch. Also got my CAT results yesterday. Was stunned to see a 85.87 Percentile. Stunned because I hadn’t even touched my books and still managed a decent score. Maybe if I […]
16th August. Considered to be a very important day in my life, my birthday. This year, it was spent at work. Woke up usual time and went off to work. Was wished by quite a few of my colleagues at breakfast. We returned back to find that we are locked out of our Design Lab, as there was some problem with the lock. Till a lot of timepass for nearly and hour, before they finally got the door open. Still more timepass after that, as I roamed all over the department distributing Eclairs. Got straight back to work and completed […]

But while he develops paternal feelings for the 14-year-old, she’s developing a fascination with Daddy’s questionable career. You can now choose to delete options when you uninstall the plugin and/or delete all knowledgebase data. This is if you want to completely clean out all articles as well as sections and categories, you’d select the section option. This does effectively mean that you’re nuking your knowledgebase and can only be restored if you chose to backup your […]

[…]all. I went to Government Polytechnic in Bandra to complete the formalities for CET 2007. Last year I had headed off to this place after standing in a long line at SPCE and expected a small line this time too. This was not to be as when we got there we were at the entrance of the building and had to climb another three floors. The result was a long wait of four hours before the work could get done. Also ended up joining others in shouting at shameless people who broke the line. Sure can be pissing off. But, […]
[…]that I was looking forward to. I was also surprised when I learnt that both the Old and the New Testaments are similarly structured into four groups viz. Law, History, Wisdom and Prophesy. Oh, btw the shortest verse in the Bible is John 11:35 (Jesus Wept). Also went for confession in the morning. We have been taught to have dialogue confessions and to concentrate on one sin at the time. So, that is just what I did 😀 Also had a very heart to heart talk with Francis on a matter very close to my heart (lots of hearts here […]
[…]better ;)). Got home by 12am and was up by 6am. But, had a good sleep in the bus today. Made my New Year resolution that if I have to travel by bus, I take good advantage of the fact that I can sleep. Have kept the resolution very well so far 🙂 Nikhil‘s sister Ritu collected my degree certificate from the University, so have saved myself the trouble of going there myself this weekend. So, can just pick it up from her on Saturday. Have just finished yet another day at work. The day was rather fulfilling. Have been […]
[…]blog. So, this is the new look. Made this background, because of Christmas. Will change it in the New Year. Have also installed two anti-spam plugins for the blog. The first is Kitten’s Spaminator. Spam prevention and blocking using tarpitting and strike counting. Comments are assigned strikes for spam content, and a comment that meets the criteria for spam is blocked from posting. The second is SpamWord Block. If activated, any comments that contain a Spam word will be refused immediately. This checks the comment text, author, URL, email, and IP (so, you can even block IP’s). Hopefully, all my […]

On a lighter note, selling the newspaper you collect over the year as raddii (scrap) will give you approximately Rs. 300, which means you get to read the paper and also make a profit out of it! 😉 :O Now, where can you find an offer like that? Montreal was the last part of our two week holiday in September that began in New York and continued in Canada. We decided to drive from Toronto to Montreal which in retrospect is not for regular train travellers like Ashwina and myself. Two hours into the drive and I realised that I had forgotten the bag which had my laptop, iPad and most importantly my specs and contact lens. If it wasn’t for the latter two, we could have just carried on. However, this big mistake cost us dearly as we had to drive back to Toronto to pick the […]

[…]on my plugins. I released updated to Contextual Related Posts and Top 10. I also released a new WordPress Plugin called Add to Footer. Lastly, I’ve taken over development of the highly popular WP Ajax Edit Comments from Ronald. The last week wasn’t all coding. I managed to catch Pink Panther 2 and also made two visits to Dynasty, our favorite eating joint. Also dropped in to my Grandmom‘s place on Tuesday. Our original plan was to order from Subway. However, the outlet in Bandra wasn’t running the offer that is being run at the outlet here in Andheri. So, […]
Took a new photograph of me because the negative of the old one seems a bit damaged. However, both developed well and now the option is out to you. Comment and tell me which of the two you prefer. There is no third option, so those ready to say neither… well, I can’t stop you from saying it 😉 Additionally, do tell me why you chose that particular pick. How about a label for them? Is it: Old Photo or is it New Photo Waiting for your […]

Also got a new helmet lock put to replace the broken old one. Lots of repairs and a lot of good money spent. But, I am glad with how things have turned out. The bike is as good as new now (excluding a nice cleaning that she needs). Going to (hopefully) spent the rest of today resting […]

[…]many Hindu weddings, though I definitely have seen more of those than Catholic ones in the last year or two! Unfortunately, nothing has changed. I still know the same as I did earlier! Nikhil’s sister had the Sangeet last Saturday, two days before the wedding on Monday. The wedding and the reception were held at Crystal Springs in Bandra. I haven’t been there before and have heard mixed reviews of the place. Though, seeing the size of it I really wonder how Catholics have their receptions there, because if you have anything more than a 100 folks and the place […]
After finishing off my vivas successfully, I went to watch one of the big Bollywood hits of this year, viz. Kal Ho Naa Ho at Fun Republic. The movie stars one of my favourite actors Shahrukh Khan. It also stars Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan and Jaya Bachan. It is a very beautiful and touching story, where Saif falls for Priety, who falls for Shahrukh, who falls for her. However, Shahrukh has little time to live and so doesn’t acknowledge his love and instead brings the other two together. The movie has its times of happiness, laughter and also its […]

Having released the new version of Contextual Related Posts, we set out on a nice holiday across the Republic of Ireland. While it’s supposed to be part of post that is pending (and hopefully, will be written about), for now I put up a few photographs on a revived WordPress.com blog. Ever since I got back to London back in September, I’ve spent most of my time working non stop on my day job. It’s that time of the year! Plugin development has continued, although rather […]

We joined this list of students to sell the books we collected in the past 20 months. Any money is good money! So, Aditya, Akshat, Sneha and me took the afternoon bus to the city. We were joined by Namrata, who had already sold her books the previous day. Got down and Atur Center and took rickshaws to get to ABC. The moment we alighted […]

All Australian snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make good pets. Q: I have a question about a famous animal in Australia, but I forget its name. It’s a kind of bear and lives in trees. (USA) […]
Considering the “cheery” spirit this year, top financial consultants have composed a new Christmas carol below. To be sung to the tune of “Santa Claus is coming to Town” You’d better watch out You’d better not cry You’d better keep cash I’m telling you why: Recession is coming to town. It’s hitting you once, It’s hitting you twice It doesn’t care if you’ve been careful and wise Recession is coming to town It’s worthless if you’ve got shares It’s worthless if you’ve got bonds It’s safe when you’ve got cash in hand So keep cash for goodness sake, HEY You’d […]
[…]had sufficient free time to pursue other things, e.g my blogging which had gone dead in the past year. For starters, I got about revamping Techtites. Also spent whole of Sunday preparing blog posts for Techtites. My next step would be to work on this blog and see what I can do with it. Evening in Fresher’s Day. After being postponed time and time again for the past week the date and details have been finalized. It sure is fun to see the “costumes” that people wear for a simple event like this. As for me, a simple shirt and […]

The primary purpose is to introduce us to each other and get to know the persons in the batch. It also aims to foster team work with a great number of team games and introduction sessions. It was simply put, really good. The OBL was held at a small place called Lekha Farms, which is located on NH4 (the highway connecting Pune and Mumbai). We […]
[…]me of the times at Agrawal’s for my HSC classes. This time I was a lot more prepared than last year and hence attempted the paper better I believe. However, I don’t think I did well enough to get me into JB, but time will tell. The paper was a lot more calculation intensive this time. However, there was a pattern that I observed. There were many sets of five questions which has all the different five answer choices within that set. Hence, if I knew four, I guessed the fifth. No negative marks definitely helps! On the downside, you […]

In addition also started a new TopSites for all mystery related sites. Well, the only site in it today is mine, but if you are run a similar mystery related site do join our […]

[…]am not sure which option to follow. For the past four years I have been spending Christmas and New Year with my choir. It has usually be low key affairs with private parties held at someone’s house. I never had a date nor did I know how to dance hence the rule-out of popular places like Willingdon or Bandra Gym. Times have changed and now I do know how to dance (a bit). Unsure as to how I plan to spend the evenings, which might be with the choir. Melody made me a very tempting offer of Catholic Gym. Though, […]
Can’t say I began this New Year on a happy note. Woke up this morning with the news of U. Colin‘s (my dear friend Clayton‘s dad) demise. He was in Dubai and suffered a major heart attack. This has come as a major shock to all of us. U. Colin was a real sweetheart and was very dear to me and I was very fond of him. It was through him, that I met Melody. May his soul rest in peace. And may the light of God shine upon his family during these times. […]
[…]am on this beautiful 1st morning. 10.30 am wouldnt be so much of a problem, but after a tiring New Year, it was a bit too early. My dad told me that some professor was calling. I picked up the phone (half asleep as I did it) to find Dayanand Ambavade sir at the other end of it. He informed me that I was on the list to design the college website and if it was possible to reach by 11! I said 11.15 and so got ready quickly and rushed off to college. In college I found Sumit, Kuldeep […]

[…]very quickly. I made a day trip to Mumbai in the middle of the week to complete bank work, order new spectacles, and visit my grandma, uncle and aunt whom I hadn’t seen for over three years. I had hired a car to take me there and back. Keeping in line with the rest of the holiday, as we reached Navi Mumbai, the car started to give problems. Luckily my driver had family living there and he swapped his car for another one while his family took care of fixing his car. Unfortunately, this took a long time even after […]
We’ve typically taken a holiday in September but due to several different reasons, Ashwina and I decided to book the first week of October for a holiday. Destination: Isle of Wight. This post has been due for two months, but, as they say, better late than never! I had been looking forward to this holiday for a long time given our previous holiday was in April. After 6 extremely busy months at work with a tonne of travel, I needed this holiday. We took a train from London Waterloo to Portsmouth (one of our shortest train journeys in the UK). […]

This would be implemented via a custom post […]
After a week in Mumbai, Ashwina and I set off to Pune to spend time at her place with her Mom and Dad. I like going to Pune because, unlike Mumbai, I get to spend a lot of time resting and relaxing. As expected, this holiday also delivered the same. I even had time to work on my WordPress plugins as well as catch up on office work. Purchasing a car Ashwina planned to buy a car in Pune for her parents to replace a very old Maruti Suzuki Alto. She had shortlisted the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and we had […]
I posted about New York a few weeks back. And although it has been several months since our visit to Canada, and I’ve been meaning to make a few posts on the time we spent in Toronto, Niagara Falls and Montreal. So, without further ado, a short post on a fun day in Toronto. We reached Toronto on Saturday and went over to Ferdy and Anita’s house for dinner. They live about 20-30 minutes from my dad’s place in Toronto. The drive was not too bad and traffic was limited being a weekend. After a good evening of food, drink […]
If you’re in New York, especially for the first time, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge should definitely be on your to-do list. It was on ours and we parked it for the last day. I had started the day by meeting an old friend at One World Trade Center. After this, Ashwina and I set out. On our way there, we stopped by a really expensive Greek restaurant which appeared to be well rated. I keep thinking that Manhattan has a separate standard when it comes to food and the expensiveness of said food. We saved our energy for the […]

[…]turned out to be a really crappy alternative, when they found it “not feasible” to give us a new connection. We were surprised at the efficiency and speed of BSNL, which, despite being a government firm, has some very efficient staff. Airtel has turned out to be a rather painful connection when I received a message a few days back billing me 50 bucks for downloading some game that I didn’t even know existed. Calling up the helpline is rather useless, nor is visiting their help center. I’ve been asked to check back on the day of the new billing […]

Opening a page in a new window using JavaScript is a preferred method over using target="_blank" due to XHTML compliance issues. This is a major update. So, I cleaned up the files and folders to conform them to the current use of the repository. […]to move to a new freshly installed VPS, which is what we did whole of last night. I ordered a new VPS and they moved all my domains for me as well as moved the old IPs to the new VPS to ensure that there was no downtime at all and no propagation delays as well. I’m impressed by their service, because I can be quite a pain at times! Will definitely recommend them if you are looking for a VPS. They have prompt service and great uptime. I haven’t seen any problems so far, but if you do run […]
[…]let you vote on/post ideas to better WordPress. The new version comes feature packed with several new additions. Technosailor gives you some detail while the WordPress Blog release post just lists them out for quick reading. I’ll be making a more detailed post about the new features and what I think about them over at Techtites when I upgrade that blog.. I won’t be upgrading this blog for a while, just to have one blog running the 2.0 stream. There are quite a few good developer features added which I would love to see more documentation on. Will be useful […]
[…]look for the rest of this month. Have been working with Melody (who can be a big taskmaster) for a new look for both our blogs. The old header needed to go, and after a good deal of searching I finalized on an image by Brian Pane, which ran with the theme of my blog as well as fit into Christmas. Hit Ctrl+F5 to see the new look. Do you like it? Hate it? Tell me about […]
[…]support out there (let me mention Vik in particular) were quick to act on this. Even better that a new VPS created for me on another server. I’m back online again. Will be moving this blog there soon. And this will be the new home of WebberZone. And exams Gave the AIMCAT this Sunday. Turned out to be a 180 mark paper. What I really like about T.I.M.E. is that every paper so far has been a surprise. This is really getting me mentally prepared to expect just about anything from the CAT. The paper was good. Actually did a […]

Besides this, I sure had to do a great deal of editting on a lot of posts and pages! It’s done now. If you find anything amiss, please do comment below. Google Search integrated I have integrated Google Adsense search into the site. If you can’t find what you are looking for with the inbuilt search, you have the option of using Google. Alternatively, use Google Search directly. I still plan on a few more […]

Just needed to reapply my WordPress Hack: Opening Links in New Windows as the quicktags.js file was overwritten during the upgrade. And, it works fine. Also upgraded Melody’s […]

[…]titled What can I give Him?. Really cute! Next on our list was Holy (Presence). This is one of the new ones we have learnt this Christmas and has been appreciated by many. For Proclamation, Chrisanne started off with Emmanuel and we repeated it. For Peace, we sang Gift of Gift of Peace. This was also new, and we had a horrible time hitting the starting note. Thankfully, we were able to do so correctly. Of course, I did have to do octave switching, so that I didn’t sound false. For Communion we took Silent Night (in Konkani), Cradle Song, […]
[…]collect the bike from Sai Service at 2.30pm and picked up Austin on the way. Austin’s got a sexy new cellphone today. Reached the place and completed the formalities and I kept staring out of the window for my baby. The antirust and teflon coating weren’t done, so we waited for it to be complete. Did I mention that I fell in love with her instantly:roll::O Started the bike after a short prayer and she started immediately. The self-start makes it easier, but I will avoid using it. The gear system is different from the CBZ so it will take […]
[…]global warming as well as get to his young son in New York, which is being taken over by the new ice age. The filming is amazing. Loved the scene where the Statue of Liberty and then New York city goes under water. The acting is really superior, but the film does tend to get slow and boring at times. You have just about every natural disaster in the movie, viz. tornadoes, hurricanes, hail storms, earthquake, tidal waves and floods. Breaking away from the sci-fi theme, the film also touches upon the concept of father-son bonding (which did tend to […]
I got the commenting fixed on the blog! In the upgrade process, I forgot to readd the .htaccess file which ensured that the permalinks work properly. Couldn’t understand why I got so many 404 errors on the blog until I realized the step I missed. Have added the necessary .htaccess file in the directory and everything works fine now. Those who wished to comment (I’m sure there would be someone ;)) on my posts, you may do so […]
It has been a while since I had a PR5 rank on my blog. After I removed the WWW, my pagerank plummeted. The rank dropped to 3 and rose to 4 after a while. With the latest pagerank update that took place yesterday, I noticed that the rank had jumped up to 5. 🙂 I’m glad that my Donate page is still PR6, while the Donations Received page is a PR5. If you would like a link to your site on that page, you know what to do […]
Just upgraded my computer once again by adding a 200GB Maxtor Serial ATA hard disk drive now bringing my total hard disk space to 360GB. The reason I finally took this decision was because once again my Samsung 160GB developed bad sectors. In addition to getting a replacement I realized that it was high time I got myself another drive. Had originally wanted to go in for a Seagate or a Western Digital, however due to their non-availability went in for the Maxtor. It’s reputed so I am not complaining. Well ofcourse that means a lot of reinstalling to do. […]
By popular request, I’ve updated Auto-Close with two new features. The first one is the ability to close comments and pings on posts and pages separately. There are separate checkboxes for both of them. So, now you don’t need to enter the page IDs. The other feature is two new buttons, one to open all comments and the other to open all pings. What do you think of these features? What else would you like to see in this […]
I have just updated my TwitterCounter plugin to incorporate the brand new TwitterCounter Big Bird button. I have also updated the plugin to use the new JavaScript code to display the button. I believe this is a lot more inline with changes that TwitterCounter will throw up. I had already added support for TwitterRemote which is a fantastic way of view which other TwitterCounter users frequent your blog. Future versions of the button will allow you to pass parameters to display various different types of buttons. I will also be adding support for display of the button right within your […]

In April this year, after we returned from Mumbai, Ashwina and I restarted our visits to castles, gardens and houses around London. Our National Trust membership provides us with access to these locations, as well as free parking, making it an obvious choice. This allowed us to take our daughter out to get some nice fresh air and in the last few weeks practise walking about! This is the story of the many places we visited. Scotney Castle Located in Tunbridge Wells (Kent), Scotney Castle is a 14th-century moated castle and a Victorian country mansion surrounded by a wooded estate. […]

The evening’s host is his friend and former student, Edmond Kirsch, a forty-year-old tech magnate whose dazzling inventions and audacious predictions have made him a controversial figure around the world. This evening is to be no exception: he claims he will reveal an astonishing scientific breakthrough to challenge the fundamentals of human existence. But Langdon and several hundred other guests are left reeling when the meticulously orchestrated evening is blown apart before Kirsch’s precious discovery can be revealed. With his life under threat, Langdon is forced into a desperate bid to escape, along with the museum’s director, Ambra […]
I never wrote a review of The Hobbit when I watched it last year. It wasn’t as fast paced as the Lord of The Rings, but it definitely was an amazing movie to watch. I know Ashwina and I enjoyed every minute of it. So, we eagerly awaited for The Desolation of Smaug and caught the show a few days back. The dwarves, along with Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, continue their quest to reclaim Erebor, their homeland, from Smaug. Bilbo Baggins is in possession of a mysterious and magical ring. If you haven’t watched the movie yet but plan […]

[…]But, when we reached late for Insidious, we decided to give Hanna a go. Hanna is the story of a 16 year old girl (played by Saoirse Ronan) who has been trained all through her life by her father (played by Eric Bana). She isn’t home schooled like most other kids, but is excellently trained in multiple languages and the art of war. Until it was time for her to return… Cate Blanchett plays the antagonist Marissa in the movie and for both Hanna and Marissa, it is either kill or be killed. As Hanna makes her way back to […]

I caught the IMAX experience of Transformers last year and loved it. So, it won’t be surprising that I was eagerly awaiting the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. For those of you who are not from this planet, Revenge of the Fallen is the second part. It’s been two years since Megatron was defeated. The humans and the autobots have formed an alliance. At the same time, the Decepticons are gathering forces. We’re not really sure what they are looking for (at least for the first half hour). The movie opens with a spectacular action screen as the […]

[…]26th we all set out for Sneha?s treat at Sigri in Dhole Patil Road, Pune. I had been to Sigri last year for one of the many admissions treats and liked the place. This time we went with the Barbeque buffet and it was simply fabulous. I stuffed myself up with fish, prawns and chicken and washed it all down with three triple scoops of strawberry ice cream. And, the next day, I went out with the Admissions Team, viz. Anoop, Maria, Radhika and Ravi. Rashmi also joined for dinner. We went over to Rajwada, which I had visited once. […]
[…]to be my brother’s birthday. The feast of Christ the King marks the end of the liturgical year. This is usually a big event in my church back in Mumbai. Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. I can finally start playing some Christmas carols 🙂 We took the 5.05pm bus to Atur Center and then went to the Food Bazaar at Pune Central to pick up some eatables and other essentials. Mass at St. Anthony’s in Model Colony was over an hour. However, it was filled with singing, something that I haven’t indulged in a long time. Met […]
My experience with Big Bazaar during Diwali remains unchanged. Three years back I had a horrible experience at Big Bazaar and this year it just worsened. As I mentioned yesterday, I intended to go shopping to Big Bazaar at Lower Parel today in order to redeem some discount coupons. Considering the Diwali season, Big Bazaar has tonnes of sales and offers to entice the Diwali shopper. It is also the time the store is extremely crowded. However, I was hoping that I would find atleast a single pair of shoes since that is currently a necessity. Found one, a Puma […]
[…]want to use out here on my very own blogs. 12th September was celebrated as Onam. For the second year in a row, SCMHRD won the Pookalam contest. Photos below for your viewing pleasure. Lunch was arranged by the students who celebrate Onam. Food was served on banana leaves. Well, I enjoyed the food and ate a great deal 🙂 As usual, this weekend as well, we have a 34 hour load shedding this week. Out of this, the generator runs for about 22 hours, which means 12 hours of total blackout, which boils down to “Hey, you can’t use […]
After well over a year, I have finally released Open Picture Window v1.3. It’s been tested and works perfectly on WordPress 2.6 and above. It should also be compatible with versions prior to v2.6. I’ve added the plugin to WordPress Extend, so you can find the latest version of the plugin available for download from there itself. The folder name has been changed to ald-openimagewindow, so in case you are upgrading you will need to delete the ald-openpicturewindow folder from /wp-content/plugins or WordPress will throw up activation errors. Read more and download Open Picture Window Plugin […]
[…]we were there, the skies decided to open up and Mumbai got its taste of the monsoons this year. It poured cats and dogs for well over 30 minutes. I decided to spend the night at my Grandma’s place in Bandra itself. Came back home in the morning to find my internet down as usual. Went to work only by 2pm. With just a few days to go, it wasn’t such an issue 🙂 My darling Flame turned four on the 4th of June. She is still giving over 46kmpl which is excellent. Saturday was the last day of my […]
This day last year, more than 180 students found their way to a Business School in Hinjewadi. The school was Symbiosis Centre for Management and HRD and yours truly was one of those 180+ students. The first fortnight at SCMHRD was crazy. But, that was just the beginning. What followed was a crazy semester during which Ravi and me formed the WebComm and redesigned and relaunched the SCMHRD website. Also joined the Admissions Team, which would ensure that the next semester would be more hectic than the first. Not because of the hectic schedule we have at college, but because […]
[…]a PDF version of it for those interested. Also been looking into the advertising in magazines and newspapers. Can be both entertaining and quite a pain at times. But, it definitely has improved my negotiation skills. Answering phonecalls is the most painful part of Admissions. For one, most of the calls are regarding distance learning. SCMHRD doesn’t offer that and for distance MBA, you need to contact SCDL. The second set of questions are about the Management Quotas. This is handled directly by the Symbiosis Society. The last thing we did (besides tonnes of others) was load the trucks. Between […]
[…]Can anybody tell me what it is?” One child blurted out, “Aces!” MOSES &THE RED SEA Nine-year-old Joey, was asked by his mother what he had learned in Sunday school. “Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. When he got to the Red Sea, he had his army build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then, he radioed headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved.” “Now, Joey, is that […]
Had to report to Pune on June 1 to get ready for my two year long MBA course at SCMHRD. I’ve never experienced hostel life and the longest I’ve been away from home was seven years back on my trip to Muscat. I made the rounds of meeting several friends in the past week. Had originally planned on carrying two bags and my laptop, but with the pillow and the bedsheets etc. that needed to be added to the list, I soon ended up with one big suitcase, one big bag and the laptop bag, all of which were bursting at […]
[…]were huge, stretching in all directions. They aren’t normally this green at this time of the year, but due to recent showers a month back, the fields still had a good deal of grass. Grass brought the cows and buffaloes grazing as well as some geese (or were they ducks?) besides some goats. The sun sets quite early and the lack of good lighting results in darkness setting rather immediately. I did manage a picture of the setting sun, which I think looks really cool. Feel free to use it as your wallpaper 🙂 Before it got completely dark, Crispin […]
[…]from our regular choice of colors, we decided to go all black with white ties this year for the guys and white and black for the ladies. White ties can be quite a problem and when you want ten of them, it can be next to impossible! So Thursday morning was spent hunting for white ties. We finally found them at a small shop at Andheri East station. Thursday evening was spent at church with Maundy Thursday mass listening to an extremely chaotic choir singing unknown hymns from an error rigged hymn sheet. Folks making hymn sheets please remember that […]
[…]not disappoint you at all. The entire movie was shot in just 60 days, but the editting took over a year and it clearly shows. The graphics in the movie are spectacular and the slow motion scenes really take the cake. This is one movie you have to watch on the full screen with surround sound. Word of advice: Don’t take your girlfriend for this one! Rating: […]

Late December, Mark asked me start writing for WLTC and I happily jumped at the offer 🙂 Here’s the formal announcement. You will now see my posts regularly at WLTC. I will be covering WordPress news, reviews and analysis of plugins, themes, hacks as well as general blogging related topics. This is a great opportunity and an equally great learning experience to be writing for a site the size […]
[…]have forgotten the real essence of Christmas – Christ! What makes me say this about three random news stories? The headlines. All use the word “X-mas”. If you use the word “X-mas” today, without doubt it means that you are referring to Christmas. But, does everyone know what the meaning of Christmas? Apparently not all the children in Germany. I read a survey a few days back in a newspaper that this is also the case with UK (can’t find the link). In the first case children were surveyed and in the second teenagers. I would really love to see […]
[…]time I was armed with everything that was needed, viz. Ration Card, University Certificate, Final Year Marksheet, Bank Statement and Bank Passbook and two copies of all these. This time we went a bit later i.e. around 10.00am instead of standing out there at 8am as we did last time. Didn’t take us long to enter in and stand in the line there. The counters timing is from 10am but they never open before 10.30am! We stood in seperate queues to see who reaches first. She did and I followed ten minutes later. What is interesting to note is that […]
[…]cousin Danielle today. The party was held at Orchid in Wellingdon Gym. Have been there almost a year back. The party was a typical family party. This time Mom was in form. We ended up winning all the three games :O Prizes to the right for those who don’t believe 😀 Food was decent. No dancing, as is customary at most of our functions, but for the masala which is something I always avoid! Got back home and continued what I do best (or some of the many things) viz. blogging. Hope to hit the bed […]
Last year, I came back rather disappointed and irritated with the Goan Association get-together. And so actually wondered how things would be this time. And I’m glad to say that this time was a lot lot better! Will confess I don’t understand Konkani, in which the entire mass is celebrated. I do understand the parts of the mass and so participated in English. Must make it point to mention that for the first time in seven years, we were not singing for this mass. I am not sure of the exact reasons for the same. And the other choir… they […]
I put up the Connections Reloaded 2 Roadmap over a year ago and updated the same with the Connections Revolutions Roadmap in mid-Feb. It’s December now and the only site that is running Connections Revolutions is this blog. With over 6000 downloads from this site alone for Reloaded, to be honest I lost the interest to create an updated version of this theme. Nor did I receive any encouragement for the same, either in the form of donations and/or through requests. Just got a request today about Connections Revolutions and would like to throw this question over to the public. […]
[…]pattern with 5 options (instead of 4) and a max of 120 questions. The CAT format has changed every year for the past two years and so I expected it to be different so wasn’t shocked. However, the question paper was shocking. Turned out to be only a 75 question set, with each question four marks with wrong answers attracting a penalty 1 mark each. I’ve given a 75 question paper before so this wasn’t a surprise, the marking was. Anyway, began with Maths. Attempted 14 and I know for sure 1 is incorrect. Maths was really simple I must […]
I have been using Gravatars in the comments of my posts for more than a year now. I have been using the Official Gravatar Plugin because no other plugin has worked suitably for me. The problem with the official plugin is that it pulls the gravatar from the main site during every load. This consumes a good amount of their bandwidth and also slows down the loading on this site. I’m now wondering if I should continue using Gravatars on this blog or not? Any thoughts about it? Are you using Gravatars on your blog? Would you like to see […]
Met up with my “two year treaty” friend today. The name because I first met her two years back and now we plan to meet two years down the line! Anyway, we went to the food court InOrbit in Malad. I’ve realized inspite of the wide choice you have to pick what you want to eat, there isn’t much I would eat. After she gorged into a Subway sandwich, I decided to take one. My last experience with Subway wasn’t too good and a pal of mine has kept telling me to stick to the non-veg. Decided to do that […]
[…]freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, “It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,” and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct…… leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence […]
India plans to send 100 persons to the moon next year. They will be as follows: 25 – OBC 25 – SC 20 – ST 5 – Handicapped 5 – Sports Persons 5 – Terrorist Affected 5 – Kashmiri Migrants 9 – Politicians and if possible 1 ? […]
[…]Some module related issue needed to be sorted out. I haven’t worked on the module for over a year and being a lesser used one, no one else has either. Spent the entire day down in the shopfloor working on the module and the setup and just when I was getting ready to stay late, the module worked around 6.05pm. Wrapped up immediately and left for the day 😀 Reached home past eight and was really zonked. My bike still needs repair (story about this coming later). Hope to do it […]
[…]created man and said, “Eat, sleep, play and enjoy your life. For this, I’ll give you twenty years.” But man said, “Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?” “Okay,” said God, “You asked for it.” So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to […]

[…]wife, Kathleen, is getting married in what is sure to be the Washington D.C. social event of the year. After infiltrating the lavish affair, John and Jeremy quickly set their sights on two bridesmaids, Claire and Gloria Cleary. With the lavish reception in full swing, Jeremy works his game plan to perfection in seducing Gloria, but John’s flirtation banter with Claire is unexpectedly impeded by her pompous, Ivy League boyfriend Sack. Having uncharacteristically fallen hard and fast for Claire, John convinces a resistant Jeremy to bend the crashing rules and accept an invitation to an extended weekend party at the […]
[…]even realize. Had practice on Monday, prayer meeting on Tuesday. It was the first one for the year and began with exposure to the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration was uptil 9pm. I missed the start because of us now being left at 6.15pm from work. Don’t think I will manage getting there on time anymore! Had choir practice this evening for mass tomorrow. Had some really yummy cake after that. I really eat a lot! Must note that I have been reaching home much earlier than expected, inspite of leaving later. Guess it is because of people still on holiday. Just […]

I’m back to my dilema of last year. Should I take my bike or the bus to work? Both have their pros and cons. Pros of the bike: 1. I save almost an hour both ways 2. I have the flexibility of timing (especially returning home) 3. Taking the bike works out a bit cheaper than the bus. Cons of the bike: 1. Riding is a tiring job especially since the total distance is 54Kms both ways. 2. Roads are bad! 3. I cannot sleep on the way 😉 Pros of the bus: 1. Can sleep peacefully (at least in […]
[…]tour of our company. Wasn’t very surprised to see that not much has changed in the past one year. We were asked the same questions we asked our seniors. A good amount of these will be coming here because of the high man-power requirement that we have. I’ve enjoyed. I’m sure many of these will 🙂 On the return journey, I treated the persons in my bus to Monginis on account of my […]

Home Alone – Part I happened last year when my parents and bro were in Muscat and I was left back due to college. Home Alone – Part II is because my parents and brother have gone to Kerala for some work for almost one month and so I shall left all alone at home. I don’t really spend much time at home anyways, mainly due to office work. But, it’s gonna be good fun to live all by myself. With it also comes the daily chores which I am really pathetic at (prospective brides please disregard this sentence). Well…. […]
[…]The Forgotten. A grieving mother, Telly Paretta, is struggling to cope with the loss of her 9-year-old son. She is stunned when her psychiatrist and her husband tell her that she has created eight years of memories of a son she never had. But when she meets the father of one of her son’s friend who is having the same experience, Telly embarks on a mission to prove her son’s existence and her sanity. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a kinda sci-fi flick. Was a very slow movie and had a good ending, if you had the patience to […]
[…]😉 Christmas… is finally just around the corner. Won’t be very different from other years I presume, except for the mass, which is going to be very good and ofcourse, now that I don’t have any college or exams (which always happened in December), I can truly enjoy this year. Have already brought in the Christmas here at work (atleast on my PC). Have been downloading wallpapers of the Internet for my PC here 🙂 Here are small thumbnails of them below. You can get their full versions here. Have also mailed these to everyone on my list, including those […]
[…]really bad this sem, and we were all scared about the results. I got a First Class for the final year, and I was much relieved and very happy. It meant that I get a First Class on my BE certificate as well as my job is secure. Nikhil went to college on Tuesday and called and told me my results from there. I got 68% which was way more than I expected. I also got a 97/100 in my Project, which I know is way too high 🙂 It’s finally done and I am officially an Electronics […]
Easter this year is a little different from the past few Easters. Firstly, I spent it alone, as my family is away and secondly, I went out for dinner with the choir and then mass in the morning! Dinner was at Jade in Poonam Nagar and I went there first at 11 to make sure they don’t shut the doors before the rest arrived. It was partly Elton‘s treat and we payed part. Had a big feast, with lots of noise, much to the irritation of the owners. But, they sure must have been really glad because we worked up […]
[…]festival, it gave us great apprehension as this was home ground, we were the only Final Year students, lots of senior professors were present for it and lastly, we had to a WIN:O Well, we did in the end. Must confess that it was one really amazing presentation, with a full lab of faculty and students showering us with questions! A good prize indeed with certis as well a cash prize 🙂 After the presentation, I went for choir practise, after a brief stopover at home, again at 7 followed by the same ritual of yesterday. Went to Melody‘s place […]
Valentine’s Day is usually that time of the year, when sales of ‘romantic items’ like cards and gifts shoot through the roof. Being the single guy I am, Valentine’s day has always been spending time with people close to me, be it family or friends. This Valentine’s Day wasn’t very much different. Awoke with no plans, but then went off to watch Maqbool followed by Something’s Gotta Give. Maqbool turned out to be pretty ordinary despite the hype. It is a Bollywood adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Something’s Gotta Give is a romantic comedy starring Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton and Keanu […]
Having met Melody last year, I finally met the most beautiful girl I know today to do up her website Glorify-God.com. So, I rode off to her place around 10.30 am. Reached there, and immediately left from there with her to pick up the brides-maid’s gown which she will be wearing tommorrow at her best friend Janice‘s wedding. We had breakfast at 11.30am at the Shiv Sagar in Bandra. Next went off to Janice’s place to drop off the other gowns. Returned back to Mello’s place again to continue with the website work. We were interrupted again, this time an […]
[…]the ending was like a Bollywood movie, this is indeed the best movie I have watched so far this year. (LOTR:ROTK yet to come 😉 ) My rating: 9/10 After the movie, went off to Delicacies of China in Lokhandwala for dinner. A small resteraunt with excellent food and service. My first visit there and I was impressed. Finally got back home around 11.15 pm. Tired so I shall wind up here and go off to […]

[…]up Tutorials @ AjayDSouza.com. I am still working on it offline and hoped to have it done by the year end. However due to postponement of my 7th sem exams, I will have to push this date in Jan. Microprocessor III Vivas will be next weekend mostly, so means I got to pull up my socks and study hard for them. Finger’s […]
I released Contextual Related Posts v3 earlier this week. This is a major version with several new features added, lots of bugs fixed and significant code cleanups. The biggest change, by far, is the brand new CRP_Query which brings the power and flexibility of WP_Query to this already powerful related posts plugin. I’ve also added additional styles which are more responsive to mobile browsers including a Grid style, Pinterest style and another two using CSS Grid. I strongly recommend switching to one of these if you have a huge number of mobile users. Another important change is enhancements to the […]
I’m happy to announce the launch of a new WordPress plugin. Popular Authors is an add-on for Top 10 and allows you to display the top authors on your blog based on the number of views that your posts receive. The plugin uses the number of views that are tracked by Top 10. This plugin came as a request from an existing user of Top 10 and I noticed that there isn’t a similar free plugin in the WordPress repository – at least not one that has been recently updated! Popular Authors can be used in three ways: Widget: simply […]
[…]the story of several individuals who helped out during the disaster, most of whom died in the years that followed. Two of the main characters are Valery Legasov (played by Jared Harris) and Boris Shcherbina (Stellan Skarsgård) who were both responsible for the clean-up efforts as well as investigating the cause behind the explosion. Some thoughts What really hit me about the series was the fear, not of dying due to nuclear radiation, but of the repercussions of failure in the old Soviet Union. Mistakes were punished and the fear of punishment took a disaster that should been rectified in […]
[…]up ajaydsouza.com as an experiment to test this new blogging software called WordPress exactly 15 years ago. I never thought the site would continue till this day. But it did survive. I am glad that this site has remained the place I can pen my thoughts, talk about my life and proudly release my work. I started writing in the early days of blogging and before Facebook. In the beginning, this blog was a place I wrote about my life, blogging daily on many occasions. But then, work caught up, I became a lot less frequent. Today, most of my posts […]

I’m currently working on new versions of Top 10 and Where did they go from here and these will come with the WordPress thumbnails support out of the box as well as the option to select existing thumbnail sizes. […]on our flight. The new departure time was 00.30. (Side note: Am impressed by the BA app. I knew the updated time well before it was announced to everyone). If it weren’t for the lounge access, I must admit that Ashwina and I would have had a very rotten time waiting for the flight! As we patiently waited in the lounge which remained open just for passengers of BA199, I decided to check out the status of our new seats. Imagine my surprise and Ashwina’s excitement when we found out that we were upgraded to Club World. So, we decided […]
First we were visited by Thor and Loki and then came the battle for New York. While we may have won the battle, the war is still far from over. This time Thor and the rest of Asguard face an even more powerful enemy whose origins go back to even before the time the nine realms were formed. Thor’s journey brings him back to earth where he unites with the love of his life Jane Foster to fight the evil. Personally, I’m a big fan of the entire Marvel series. I liked the Iron Man series, Thor, Avengers and so […]

[…]Contextual Related Posts yesterday. This update addresses a few bugs, but mainly includes a few new features that have been requested by users of the plugin. You’ll find most of the new features tucked away in the General Options and Output Options screens in the Setting page. If you’re facing any bugs or have any issues, please post it in the Support forums. I have better access to them when on the move and it’s very difficult to provide any decent support in the comments. Also, I’ve tried to pen down some regular questions in the FAQ. If you’re a […]

The old default image is now called “default2.png” I’d like to specially thank Dan for his support to this release. Thanks to his work I’ve been able to test the plugin on a completely different environment with custom post types. I already have a pipeline of changes I’m planning to implement in future versions. Changes planned on the path to v1.9 include: Related […]

[…]killed in war, Jake takes his place on Pandora. For Jake, who is crippled, this is a chance for a new life. On Pandora, Jake’s mind is linked with a human-Na’vi hybrid. As the hybrid, Jake is free to wander the new planet. As far as the story goes, Jake gets lost, is rescued by Netyiri, gets introduced to the Na’vi people and finally joins the People. The movie has been produced in 3D, which required us to watch it using 3D goggles. I say required, because without the goggles the entire movie is totally blurred. The special effects are […]
A little more than a month back I moved this blog as well as all my other sites to my new account at Blue Host. This was the first step in cutting costs (and no it is not because of the recession). Since then I stumbled upon Super Green Hosting and as part of my plan of spreading out my sites, I took an account there as well and today, at long last, have completed moving this blog to the new server. If you are reading this post, then it means that the move has been completed for you. That […]
[…]usual she did her best to feed me 🙂 I had plans to meet Cloreisha after this. We met up at the new Cafe Coffee Day on the fourth floor of the Reliance Trendz store in Hill Road. This one is rather nicely done. Very spacious and quiet. Again, it is new so I wonder how long this will be maintained. After having met her, I went over to Sneha’s place to meet Arijit and Sneha. Sneha has taken a place in Saki Naka, near her office. I’m surprised at the huge number of buildings that have come up in […]

[…]league prophets, but I guess we don’t have to worry about them. After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, ‘Close the door! Were you born in a barn?’ It would be nice to say, ‘As a matter of fact, I was.’) During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats. Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas […]

The latest version of Bad Behavior i.e. 2.0.6 includes a new check where it looks up various blacklists. A new blocking method using realtime blackhole lists is being used to determine if a post originates from a known spam source, open proxy, etc. GET requests are not screened. Links are provided to blackhole list removal procedures through the fix it yourself link. And my “darling” ISP Exatt has all its IPs blacklisted across most of these blacklists. A direct consequence is that I get blocked out of commenting on my own blog. I had to switch back to 2.0.5. Unfortunately, […]
[…]need to fly on Thursday morning as originally planned. 🙂 So we just asked the agent to book the new tickets and headed home. So on Thursday morning, we once again set out to Khar market to get the new ticket. However, this time we went by bike inspite of the slight drizzle. After picking up the ticket, we dropped in at my Dad’s Mom’s place for a while and then came home. The rest of the days, uneventful. Uploaded the pictures and videos from my Sony Handycam today. Am amazed by the quality of both the video, audio and […]
[…]frames and specs in Muscat are much more expensive than India and I was rather reluctant to get a new pair. That’s when I got a brilliant idea. Why not pick a pair of contact lens? The monthly pack with the solution and making a new frame in India works out less expensive than making the frame here. Also got the lens pack immediately 🙂 After a brief stopover at their place, we had dinner at Golden Spoon which serves Indian Chinese food 😉 Next stop was icecream at a joint there itself. On our way back I realized that […]
Went over to Melody‘s place on Sunday morning to complete the work on her new computer. Bowling Elvis loves to go bowling whenever he is down and so after lunch me and Melody joined Elvis, Delilah, Clint and Alisha for a round of bowling at Fun Republic in Andheri W. They were already playing when Melody and I reached there. Fun Republic is one noisy place. Added to the noise of the people there, you also have to bear blasting music. Telling them nicely didn’t help until we fired the guy. This was one of the longest rounds I’ve played […]
Melody finally decided to buy a new computer for a house. A great decision because her old computer was just too slow to get any work done! Got the computer from my computer engineer. You can see all the specs on Melody’s post. A good system and I realize that my computer is already outdated. However, my computer still remains faster because of the 1Gb RAM and the 128Mb Graphics card 😀 The computer was delivered in the afternoon and spent the rest of the afternoon setting it up. Finishing touches […]

[…]and so there was a lot of reporting to do. Didn’t go for choir practice yesterday because I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it for the Silver Jubilee mass today. Met up with Madam A after work. Walked a good deal to buy her organizer (I wonder why she needs one!). Also checked out her new Nokia 6030. No comments. Went over to Bamboo which is a small joint in Shere-e-Punjab. Not the kindof place I normally visit, but the food turned out to be quite good. Took the bike to work on Tuesday because I wanted to […]
Mom decided to try out Dominos’ new Cheese Burger Pizza today. Well, what do I say, its different. A brand new concept in pizzas. It consists of one thin crust with a layer of cheese slices. Above this is a layer of burger patties, tomato and onion. Next comes the second thin crust followed with a topping of mozzarella cheese and one topping of your choice. You can choose from Tomato, Spicy Paneer, Classic Veggie, Corny Chicken and Spicy Chicken. The pizza was quite good, though I find almost any pizza good!. But, as usual I’ve always found Dominos prices […]

The beauty and the beast finally meet their fate back in the city of New York where the filmmaker takes and displays the ape in quest of his fame by commercial exploitation which ultimately leads to catastrophe for everyone including a playwright Jack Driscoll who falls […]
[…]the speakers on my computer have conked off. I can understand the speakers as they are over five years old. But the headset is three months! And it isn’t just me who has noticed this. You pay a bomb for a cell phone and get such a crappy headset. Have borrowed the headset that my brother is using and given him a similar new headset which my dad bought me. Guess Nokia realized their handsfree weren’t selling so decided to make crappy ones? Thankfully, work has been fun. Begun working on another project as well now, which is taking up […]
[…]a bit from him. Had choir practice in the evening and made sure I reached there early to learn a new Konkani hymn which we will be singing for the Goan Association feast today. Chatted a bit before going home. My PC has been giving problems again. Am getting really frustrated when this time my new hard disk suddenly disappears during operation. Problem is across both my OSes. I now have a backup of everything on the HDD. I recommend SyncBackup for your backup work. It’s free, easy to use and very powerful! Spent whole of Saturday morning and afternoon […]
[…]1.6 Though this theme is working pretty well with WordPress 1.6 already. However, with many new changes planned, I will need to ensure that the theme works perfectly with it. Different Flavours Have three flavours in mind. Currently Connectios Reloaded is available with the right sidebar. v2 will also have the left sidebar (easy to do) and also in 3-column (tedious). Well that is it for now. Will add to this post when I think of something new. As usual, please do keep your suggestions, comments coming. And for those who would like do, please do contribute a small amount […]

[…]practice as usual. As I started my bike I found it to be “auto accelerating”. I’m still very new with bikes and just couldn’t lay my finger on the reason for it to do so. After I got back home I called up Mark and through his guidance and much trial and error we figured out that the choke was set on full. (This part has been censored due to excessive abusive language against the person who fiddled with the bike) X( On the bright side, I learnt a lot today 🙂 Hung out at my place, ordered lunch and […]
[…]So, had a nice comfortable journey home and didn’t have to spend much money as well 🙂 Made a new acquaintance who was new to Mumbai and headed in my direction. Came home and rested the day out. This brings me to the end of Part II. Stay tuned for Part III, which is life after […]
[…]is good. Thursday finally found me going home, much to the delight of my mom 😉We also got news today that since my SBU has reached its financial target and since we have been so religiously attending work on Saturdays, we get to take either the 1st or the 4th off :). Since I have a meeting on the 4th, I took 1st off. We decided to watch Be Cool. In this sequel to “Get Shorty”, Chili Palmer (John Travolta) is tired of the movie production business after being forced to make a useless sequel starring Martin Weir (Danny De […]
[…]night is choir practice. Same as usual. Wasn’t really tired so enjoyed it. Also got a nice new pair of jeans for just 100 bucks, as the Goan Association was getting rid of some. Factory rejects, they say, but are quite decent for use. Just had the main button missing, which is an easy job to rectify. Had to stay at home all Saturday morning, because of work in our kitchen. Rather frustrating, because it is noisy and very dusty. Evening program was posted below. Work up usual time this morning. U. Conrad called and was at his place by […]
Approx… Wrote about my new PC a week back, however due to certain problems, it couldn’t be installed Ashish and Kishore finally installed the system today after having changed the power-supply. Bought a higher end supply, with dual fans. Was also forced to get rid of my old keyboard :(. Bought a simple Logitech keyboard. Also think I will soon be upgrading to 1Gb RAM. Tested the boot up time with Windows XP SP2, and it worked out around 30 seconds. Haven’t yet gotten down to tweaking my system and installing all the software that I need. Will need to […]
[…]and duty cycle. Now, I need varying duty cycle for the wave. Have left that option for the new week. Been researching on Zener diodes to find one of lower capacitance. So far unsuccessful. My uncle came over yesterday and I took a new pension policy from ICICI Prudential. Quite a good scheme, and I save on tax as well as save for retirement. Bit early to begin thinking about it? I don’t think so. Friday has been a really tiring day. Been working all day long with my circuit. Even have tried simulations in pspice. Had a very heavy […]
Life is all about experiencing new things, and this week has been one such week. I wont give a detailed account of every single day, but just an overview of them all. Monday was a pretty normal day. I continued work on the SRS for my project. I was also informed that the bus rates have been increased to Rs. 1300. I spend almost 100 bucks a day on travelling now. I’m waiting for the monsoons to get over, before I can take my bike to work. A long ride, but definitely a great saving. Nikhil (my senior at LnT) […]
[…]after lot of clearings and revisions I completed it by Friday evening only to learn that there are new developments in the project. So, from this Monday, I started making multiple copies of the SRS. Sat with my boss on Monday and updated the SRS with the new developments. I have to now begin work on the various structures and routines of the controller. I hope to get done with this soon. I like the job, since I am learning a real lot from this. Also being one of the few peoples working on DSP here at C&A, I see […]
[…]to Eros. Got there before time and ate sev puri & pani puri just outside Eros (I am learning new things about Melody) and then went in for the movie. The screening was at the mini-theatre and ofcourse with a small handful of audience. The theatre was cold (Note to myself: wear sweater when going for movies) but then again, the movie was entertaining. Unlike my other “movie review posts”, I will not review this movie. Just state that it is a must-go-watch movie, but only if you have seen the first two parts. Sadly, keeping in the tradition of […]
[…]get to learn a lot when you speak to people who have been to other countries. Learning about the new cultures. It was also surprising to see how much Nandita has changed after going there. I didn’t know her very well when she was here, but knew enough of her. Drove her back home and came home myself. The rest of the day was eventful, except that I skidded on water in my house, kncoked the stool down, hit my leg badly on it and dropped a big utensil on my head 👿 The things people do […]
Imagine travelling all the way from Andheri to Dadar only to find that once again the forms for XAT are not available! This time, they are out of stock! The last time it was because their freaking computers were not working. I can’t believe how banks can be like this… Then again, maybe I can! X( Anyway, did go to another branch to pick up forms for IMT. Stopped over at McDonalds in The Hub for a quick bite before coming home. Have to make another trip yet again. It sure can get very irritating! […]

This review was originally posted by Madam A Lobo at the now defunct Humble Reviews. The saga of 2 Men, One a lowly “Mumbaiya” Taxi Driver, the other, the son of a prominent Business Tycoon, banging into each other literally!! Though they come from very different backgrounds, they share the same stubborn, headstrong, impulsive, impatient nature (and birth-date!!!) and there is not only a clash between cars, but also a clash of wills. The basic storyline is very similar to an English Movie starring Ben Affleck and Samuel Jackson – “Changing Lanes”. However, the movie has the distinct “Desi flavour”, […]
[…]After the release last week which added support for deletion requests from your visitors, a brand new feature that allows the admin to move their comments from one post to another. When you are viewing a post, you can hit the Move button. You have three options of finding the post you want to move the comment to. One of them is to Move by Title, the other is Move by ID and the last is Move by Post. The Move by Title allows you to search the titles of the posts and then select the post you want to […]

Future versions of Top 10 will include the ability to reset the view count as well as the ability to turn off the display of number of posts at the end of the each post in Popular Posts display. Maybe even further customization options. As usual I’m open for all kinds of suggestions. Do comment and let me know what you would like to see in the next version of Top 10. Read more and […]
I’ve just released a major update of my plugin Contextual Related Posts. The new features available are: You can now choose to either display “No Related Posts Found” or simply blank out the output Exclude posts from certain categories. You need to enter the category slugs. Complete auto-complete available for this, so you don’t need to remember the slugs! Exclude pages in list of related posts Option to choose if you want related posts to be displayed on pages As usual, I’ve got the plugin running on this blog as well as Techtites. And, I’m throwing open feature requests. Comment […]
I saw the promos of Noah and decided it was a movie that was definitely worth watching. And I was wrong. If you’ve read the story of Noah from the Book of Genesis, you’ll agree with me. The movie borrows its story line from the actual story in the Bible and then throws in its own “masala” to end up telling a story that even more unbelievable and really painful. This could possibly be because the real story is short and they needed some fillers. But, throwing in some fallen angels was a joke! I like Russell Crowe as an actor, […]
[…]posts and pages as well as display a list of most popular posts based on page views. The new version of Top 10 adds support for WordPress 2.9 thumbnails, with a fallback to display thumbnails using custom fields (configurable) and a default image in case both are missing. You can choose the location of the default image. You can also configure the display. The default settings is an unordered list, but you can easily customize this to display an ordered list, divs, spans or just about any other HTML tag. If you are using this plugin, do consider a donation. […]
As part of the Admissions Drive, we, the Admissions Team are organizing a contact programme in Mumbai and twelve other cities. The event in Mumbai will take place in Ruia College, Matunga. I sent out the emails two days back and in less than 24 hours we had all the slots in most cities full! I’ll be leaving for Mumbai in the next half hour. Got a function to attend tomorrow evening and the full day will be busy in Sunday. Plan to return to Pune on Tuesday. Will probably be carrying the Admissions Cell, which in itself is capable […]
[…]knowing Nikhil’s folks… I thought I would be late but guess 9pm wasn’t late enough. Folks I knew soon started tripping in after that so I had my company. Got a picture of the bride and groom to be. Did I mention that having an N73 is very handy? The highlight of the evening was a small dance performance that Nikhil participated in. If I had known this I would have come prepared with my handy cam…. Well as I promised Nikhil here is one picture of it. Ate a great deal courtesy one waiter who missed us once and […]

Thilak pointed out yet another Personality test like that I had posted earlier. This one is called PersonalDNA. The test is extremely long, spanned across 11 pages and they check a great many characteristics. Be prepared to spare some time when you are giving the test. Here is my result: Take the test and do let me know the results […]

It was coming, coming and it finally has 🙂 I am now a proud owner of the Nokia N73. Had been debating between the N80 and the N73 for a while now. I was inclined towards the N80 at first, but the N73 seemed a much better choice. And I am glad I picked this one up. I’m stunned at the sleek look and the ease of use of the phone. The 3.2MegaPixel camera is simply fantastic! For smaller occasions I won’t even need to carry my Olympus or my Handcam anymore! Already got click happy when I went for […]

My folks got back today from their trip to Kerala. And I am glad. I can now go back to carrying my breakfast and lunch to office as opposed to the last three weeks when I had to eat the crappy food in the office canteen. Spent whole of today at home. Haven’t been keeping too well lately. Back to good food and I hope to recover soon […]
It was about time… I have finally created a Facebook page for this blog. Up until now my profile has been one of the promotion media for the blog. Now, I hope to increase the number of persons following this blog via Facebook. If you have been reading this blog, do hit the like button on the Facebook page. I still can’t create a specific username for the page. I believe it is just a matter of time before I can do so. If you have become a fan of this page, do comment below and let me know. I […]
My download counter broke today. The counter uses a flat file to store the clicks and links. With the high volume of downloads that I received today the file got corrupted and as a result the downloads gave an ID error. I’ve restored a backup, which means unfortunately I lost a lot of counts 🙁 Anyway, it should be functional now. I plan on shifting to a counter that uses mySQL database or alternatively just write a plugin for the same. Don’t know the time frame. Need to brush up my PHP skills first […]
A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he saw a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices he has a note in his mouth. He takes the note and it reads “Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please”. The dog has money in his mouth, as well. The butcher looks inside and, lo and behold, there is a ten dollar note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a […]

I actually can’t believe that I am typing this entry from home at 8pm on a weekday. Well, the reason is because I have been so tied up with work that I have been coming home only to sleep. While I spent almost the full of the last two weeks working late and Saturdays, it got really bad the last two days with me leaving office only at 11.30pm, having dinner out and reaching home at 1.30am. This ofcourse meant that I was pretty zonked during the day. But work had to continue. Today I made up my mind to […]
Went to Melita‘s place yesterday afternoon as she was treating us with Pizza. We ordered from Pizza Hut and got our pizza delivered in 45 minutes, so they agreed to give our next purchase a 50% off! For once I was really put off by Pizza Hut. They served late, the delivery guy didn’t have a menu nor the discount coupon, which really lacked in service and the pizzas weren’t cut properly. I guess eating at Pizza Hut makes more sense! After this, James and I went to submit the forms for the voter’s list but were told that we […]

However, what I post here (or anywhere) is my choice and I exert full control over what is shared. I do not believe that Facebook and its products give me that choice unless I choose to discontinue their usage. Closing remarks WhatsApp has now pushed back the date of accepting the policy changes to May 15th. It has also attempted to clarify the changes – by repeating that messages and locations shared by us cannot be read my WhatsApp (Obviously! These are […]

I’ve had to go into the depths of jQuery, JavaScript and the WordPress admin scripts. There is still more to be done to make it useful and I’ll continue that over the next few weeks. I do need to get an update of Popular Authors as well although that is yet to get any respectable number of […]
The last weekend was a long one cause of Easter and we’ve typically not done much on the Easter Monday bank holiday. However, Seema and Rodney, who were in London and bunking with us, had already booked tickets to visit Bath and Stonehenge. So, Ashwina and I also tagged along. We arrived at Victoria before 8am well ahead of our scheduled departure. It allowed us to get some decent seats in the middle of the bus. We set out towards Bath first which is about 2.5 hours away from London. We luckily didn’t encounter much traffic given the early start. […]
Having spent the first day in Toronto, we set out on Monday to visit Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls is less than a two-hour drive from Toronto and so can be visited in a single day. However, my dad got a good deal with the Sheraton Hotel in Niagara Falls so we decided to bunk there for a night. We grabbed lunch in Toronto before heading over to Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls clearly is a busy town by the falls complete with several eating joints as well as a casino. Walking by Niagara Falls We settled into our hotel rooms and […]
Been traveling over the past three days and I completely forgot that I missed October the first. 14 years ago in a city far away from here, I decided to set up this blog as an experiment. It’s been 14 years of blogging. I must confess I’m not as regular as I used to be, but hope to get back with hopefully something more interesting to write. Any […]

Following the announcement of the new translation system announced by WordPress.org, I’ve modified the text domains to match the plugin slugsi.e. contextual-related-posts and top-10 respectively. This became very apparent today when we did the wall walk! Since it was lunch time, we first made our way to the New Armouries which is the restaurant in the Tower of London. Known for its British food, you’ll find a good variety of food and drink to tempt your taste buds. I settled for some gammon and Ashwina had the chicken pottage. Once we were done with our […]
[…]America series. Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier. The movie opens with the scene in the trailer with the Captain showing us how he does things! Scarlett Johansson looks really fabulous as the Black Widow. And Steve Rogers does run the good mile. We’re also introduced to Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and I love to swap on those cool wings of his. Captain America delivers, like all the Marvel movies. There are several really well done fight sequences and some […]

So Farmer John called and called and called every day for three weeks. Finally, he asked the sheriff, “Your signs are doing no good. Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of this blog. What started as an experiment to check out a new blogging tool called WordPress back in 2003 has become an integral part of my life. I completed my engineering and worked as an engineer in one of the leading engineering companies from India. I then went out to do my MBA, became an investment Banker and relocated to London. And, I married the most beautiful woman in the world. And even went on quite a few holidays! WordPress became an integral part of my life as well. My theme became famous and […]

By this time, the skies had opened up and the rain lashed at full force. We took the narrow pathways to make our way towards Portree which is the biggest town in the Isle of Skye. Timberbush had arranged for accommodation for everyone. We had asked for a bed & breakfast and were put up at the Viewmount. This was our first B&B experience and were pleasantly surprised. We had a nice cozy […]
WordPress.org now has a new review system for plugins and themes. While the rating system has always been active, users could never write a review of the plugin. This is especially useful if you’re planning to give a plugin a low rating. If you’re using one of my plugins, I request you to head over to the respective plugin review page and write a fair review of the same. If you’re thinking of anything below a 3, do consider raising your concerns in the respective support forum. Below are a set of links of my popular plugins for you to […]

I released a new version of Top 10 last night, with one major feature upgrade. The plugin now supports multiple widgets, a feature that has been asked by many users of the plugin. What can you do with this? Well, if your theme supports different sidebars / footers, you can add the widget to every sidebar you would want. This feature addition is thanks to Jacob Dunn, who sent across the code for its implementation. I have quite a few plans for Top 10 in the pipeline, including: Cleaning up the admin area to make it more presentable Better CSS […]
[…]isn’t the most spectacular movie on the storyline front. However, the movie has a whole set of new stunts, some grand theft auto, big guns, gorgeous girls, a stunt-filled chase on foot and a super amazing car chase to take the movie to a climax! It also reminds me of those car chases in NFS or GTA, but with a greater degree of realism. It was a great way to start off the summer with a high octane movie. But, if you haven’t watched the movie yet, you should go out and do so. And, when you do, wait for […]

[…]to display and if you want to automatically display the related posts in your content / feed. The new version of Connections Reloaded fixes a bug that didn’t allow you to modify the number of posts to display. The major update has been the support for WordPress 2.9, especially the thumbnail support. The plugin will first check if the post contains a thumbnail. If it doesn’t then it will check the meta field (configurable). If this is not available, then it will show the default image as specified in the options screen. […]on a good number of weekends! I had an extra day off in which I tried really hard to complete a new version of Better Search. However, I wasn’t very successful, since I had to scrap much of the changes. I also realised that the feature rich Media Temple wasn’t the best solution for this blog. I’m really surprised at the kind of resources this consumes, but I almost shot way over the 1,000 GPU cycles. Had to move my blog out of there in a hurry. By my estimates, I would have easily had to pay $20-30 more. So, […]

Besides this, I’ve also worked on increasing the security of the theme. If you notice an vulnerability, please bring it […]

I had mentioned last week that we had our new BSNL telephone connection installed. This was the first step to getting an internet connection. It was supposed to come this week and we agreed to “speed” up the process by actually going and picking up the modem ourselves. Our first visit today was to the ICICI bank in Koramangala to make a demand draft to pay my road tax. The draft did get made, but the tax did not get paid, because our agent was out of town. So, once again, this has been postponed to next week 🙁 After […]

[…]the last three days 🙂 On Sunday we decided to go off to the Pizza Hut in Forum for lunch. The new menu has been made available in all the places! On our way back we dropped in at the computer shop on the way. We finally picked up the UPS, which is an absolute necessity in this place where there is either constant load shedding on repeated power cuts. I also picked up a mouse, but it turned out to be a non-USB one, so will be exchanging that this weekend. We had a training programme scheduled for this […]

There have been several good additions to the menu, but there have been equally bad ones. Going to check if the menu has been updated in Bangalore as well. I headed off home soon after dinner. Friday and Saturday both turned out to be extremely rainy days. However, the newspapers claim that it rained everywhere except the lakes! Began packing for returning to Bangalore this morning. It doesn’t take much time when you have minimal dumping […]
I’ve got tonnes of feedback about Ajax Edit Comments and several of these are requests for new icons that the plugin uses. I’m planning at least two sets of icons for the plugin, so please give me as many suggestions as possible so that I can select accordingly. Remember that the icons […]

I was able to secure tickets from Go Air for just Rs. 3,000/- for the return journey, which was part of their promo! The flight turned out to be very comfortable and I got plenty of leg space, which was very lucky since the there aren’t that many seats with sufficient leg room. The journey to the airport was very pleasant. I was a bit worried of getting there in time, but the […]
[…]of blue jeans had started to fray and rather than make a fashion statement, I decided to pick up a new pair. From what I have seen, shopping in Bangalore seems to be more expensive than Mumbai. I’m going to verify this on my trip back to Mumbai as I hunt for some clothes. Anyway, I found a decent pair of blue boot-cut jeans for a little more than 2K and picked them up. It turned out to be a smart thing to do because my jeans finally frayed and well, they are now a pair of torn jeans that […]

[…]requests for features and hence the requirement has been fulfilled in this version. So, what’s new with Better Search? The biggest change with Better Search is the support for a template file. You can create a file called better-search-template.php with the necessary code and dump it in the theme folder. Using the template file ensures that the results blend into your site. Better Search download contains a sample file that I have tested with the default WordPress theme. Read more about the template tags supported by the plugin. The second big change in the plugin is complete support for localization. […]
Ronald has just uploaded a new version of the highly popular WP Ajax Edit Comments. This version once again enables comments in the moderation queue to be edited. This has been a much requested feature that we have received and so it’s been turned on once again. In a later version we’ll provide an option in WP-Admin to control this behavior on a site basis. A few other minor changes have been done for better compatibility with other plugins (hopefully). So, grab a copy of the plugin while it is still hot. Current users will be able to upgrade seamlessly […]

It sure is a major uphill task and wouldn’t have been possible if Ronald hadn’t done a good job in handing over the content to me! I have received only one response so far, and, I’d hate to have […]
Many of you may be aware that I have taken over development of WP Ajax Edit Comments from Ronald. I’m pleased that most of the translators have agreed to continue supporting WP Ajax Edit Comments, so it will continue to be distributed in several languages. As many of you are aware Ajax Edit Comments is an extremely powerful and complicated plugin. While I’m currently doing my best to test every aspect of the same, the testing is still very limited. What AEC really needs is a group of testers who are willing to run the unstable builds of the plugins […]

[…]so be it. Dinner was Chicken Manchurian, Prawns Masala and Chicken Fried rice. We tried a smaller new restaurant near my place instead of the regular one I ordered. While the chicken was good, the prawns was terrible. Note to myself. ?Do not order sea food from small places?. Monday and Tuesday were normal days. Aditya was in Mumbai yesterday on placements work and dropped in after that was done. Took him to InOrbit, Malad whose sheer size had him all amazed. Got back home, bid farewell to him and got ready for Seema?s birthday party. We were at her […]

[…]and here he maintains his own name. Also in the original, Jacob takes to Klaatu, while in the new movie he hates him initially. I won’t go on with the rest of the story because then there isn’t much to watch. Overall it is a one time watch. Keanu presents his usual placid style of acting. The special effects are spectacular as is the audio. My rating: […]

Monday to Wednesday evenings were spent interviewing juniors for the Admissions Core Committee, the last obligation we have before we move out of the Admissions Committee. One last thing in the pipeline is the conversion of the existing slow SCMHRD website template into a faster loading one. Have the junior Web Committee to assist me this time. Now, back to […]

A new pastor was visiting the homes of his parishioners. At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a card and wrote “Revelation 3:20″ on the back of it and stuck it in the door. When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, Genesis 3:10.” Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter. Revelation 3:20 begins “Behold, I stand […]
[…]Plugin Repository. I’ll probably be working on a mini version of the plugin based on the new Account system that was launched last week. However, no promises on this one as it will be only if time permits. The current version of the plugin available on this site will also work with Snap Shots. I’ll keep it here for archival reasons. For now, I’ll continue to support the plugin via the […]

Ravi joined me in the quest. Sat for two lectures today after almost two days gap; most of which was spent in front of my laptop in the Admissions room, except for breaks for food and nature and seven hours of sleep in the 48 hours. […]Micro Economics FCQ. Got a 7 on 10 which was so surprising that I rechecked my results. As for the new FCQs, we got Research Methodology hit us like a bag of bricks. Passing is now questionable. The others shouldn’t be a problem I guess. Am also waiting for my Spanish results, this should come in tomorrow. Lectures were normal, actually, they were a lot more hectic than before with even more hours. OSHE (Occupational Safety, Health and Environment) lectures are a pain, infact its eight hours of weekly crap. But, didn’t we ask for a “holistic development”? Haven’t been […]

I can’t believe that Spiderman 2 was two and half years back! While, I wasn’t too impressed by Spiderman 2, Spiderman 3 was definitely worth it (spent only Rs.70 😉 ) The movie introduced us to two new villains, viz. Sandman and Venom. Sandman is a result of a tragic accident befalling Flint Marko, an escaped convict. Venom chose his path. After having revealed his true identity to Mary Jane, Peter Parker and Mary Jane have a happy relationship with Peter continuing his day job as a freelance photographer while Mary is a budding theatre actor. How things start to […]
[…]bothered giving any exams because I was more interested in learning. Well, it’s been eight years since then and my typing speed has improved and online sites rate it between 70 to 80wpm. My extremely perfectionist nature adds to the fact that any job given to me is done to the best of my ability and hence was requested to type out a song book by U. Conrad. So a good time of Tuesday and Wednesday and the next few days as well are going to be spent compiling the book. It’s a fun job and the problem is verifying […]

[…]Good Friday. Our line up is good (as usual). There are a few of our legacy hymns as well as some new ones so practice is needed. This is going to be my last Holy Week in Mumbai, atleast for the next two years so I’m going all goes well. I also joined the the SCMHRD community at Orkut, so spend a good amount of my time in the forum there. It’s good to get to know some of my future classmates. And, my laptop arrived today! Atleast the box did. Hopefully, the engineer drops in tomorrow so I can […]

My last experience with KFC was nearly eight years back and it wasn’t a very tasty one! However, with the arrival of KFC in India, one thing that has definitely happened is the additions to the menu. Also, the Hot and Crispy was definitely not bland which was a good thing. The photo to the right shows how much we ate, and that is excluding the sundaes afterwards 🙂 Sunday Sunday was a truly […]

I noticed today that WP-Cache wasn’t cleaning the cache whenever a new comment was posted. I remembered that Everton had the same problem earlier and he had found a solution to it. This didn’t seem to be an isolated case and it can be pinned down to Spam Karma 2 and WP-Cache not playing well together. However, Priv has a solution in the form of a SK2 Plugin. Simply download the plugin and dump it in your sk2_plugins folder. You’ll find this in the main SK2 folder. Goto Options > Spam Karma 2 once to make sure SK2 recognizes the […]

I’ve got two reports of problems with Snap Preview Anywhere Plugin when you try to edit a post (new posts seem to work fine) with the WYSIWYG editor in WordPress on the MAC OS X platform using Firefox or Safari. I’ve also had two other reports but they have not confirmed the platform. I am not in the position to test the same as I don’t have access to a MAC. But, from my understanding of the problem, I think it to be a problem with the Post Preview that gets loaded when you are editting the post. For some […]
Snap Preview AnywhereTM is definitely one of the new and extremely popular things to have hit the internet lately. And with the integration with WordPress.com they have definitely had a major jump in websites that will be serving SPA. For users of WordPress.org my plugin seems to be serving well. I’ve had over 1000 downloads in the last ten days and I’m here reporting that Snap Preview Anywhere Plugin has now crossed 3000 downloads within just two months of its release 🙂 Are you using the plugin? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? Tell me about them here or […]

Student: Sure. Prof: Is God all-powerful? Student: Yes. Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn’t. How is this God good then? Hmm? (Student is silent.) Prof: You can’t answer, can you? Let’s start again, young fellow! Is God good? Student: Yes. […]
[…]had given my bike for servicing yesterday and she came back looking all shining and almost brand new. Had the battery changed as well since it was giving problems. Things look smooth so far. I’m happy. Had a wedding mass in the evening. U. Conrad had to rush so he asked me to play the final tracks. The couple’s photographer decided to exhaust all his roles in the church itself, or so it seemed by the marathon photo session! After this our ancient boring priest decided to come and grumble at us for playing the music. So we grumbled back […]

Dec 29 Dearest Edward The mailman has just delivered five most beautiful gold rings, one for each finger, and all fitting perfectly! A really lovely present! Lovelier, in a way, than birds, which do take rather a lot of looking after. The four that arrived yesterday are still making a terrible row, and I’m afraid none of us got much sleep last night. Mother says she wants to use the rings […]

It’s been two years since I passed out. Work never gave me the time and so finally now that I am at home have taken up the job of getting my transcripts and recos from college. So set off today with Gautam to college and met Himanshu who was also there for the same purpose, not to mention few others as well. Reached there and realized that I will need copies of my marksheets, which meant that transcripts wouldn’t be done today. However, there is a lot more needed. Hence, did everything else. Got part of the work done, which […]

[…]ended up writing another article and releasing another plugin. I have also create three new Software Category, where I shall post about certain useful freeware, open-source and shareware programs. Finally ended up going to bed post 1am Monday morning. Was up before 9am, did a bit more computer work and then went over to my study partner’s house. And spent whole of Monday there solving and analyzing a SIMCAT. Performance has to be improved. Reached home only at 9.30pm 😀 This will be a daily schedule (atleast planned) to ensure that we write as many mock exams as possible before […]

Don’t be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never […]
[…]Pizza Hut, but it was a welcome change when I visited it on Thursday. They have introduced a new range of pizzas which is not yet displayed online. Well, they didn’t turn out to be extraordinary, and definitely didn’t look like the pictures on the menu :O Advertising 😛 Mass was good and so was our singing. U. Conrad asked me to sing the response. Hey! I’m not a solo singer! But, I can definitely “say” the responses 😉 Sunday was the AIMCAT as usual. This time it wasn’t as good as I hoped. Ran out of time for Maths. […]

[…]of CAT studing, while in the evening I had to go for choir practice. We have been learning a few new hymns and the different parts for some old ones. Tuesday was uneventful, but Wednesday made up for it. Now that I am at home, my sleep patterns have changed drastically. I seldom go to sleep before 2am and unfortunately I have to get up before 8am! Wednesday was no different. We had to go to three banks and so was ready before 10am. Set off first to HDFC bank in the area. I don’t really like the bank policies […]

Going now… have to do some studing […]

There’s only one requirement : your computer monitor or laptop (with my blog title/homepage visible on the screen) must appear somewhere in the photo. […]went off to get my bro’s cellphone repaired on Saturday afternoon. Am going to get myself a new phone. Still finalizing the details. Any suggestions? Went for the 7pm evening mass. Missed my morning lecture on Sunday morning because I just couldn’t wake up. This time I am relatively happier with the AIMCAT, because the last two were disastrous! Went off to watch Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest in the afternoon. A fantastic movie and a must watch. But you will need to have watched the first part to understand this completely. The evening was pretty much lazy. […]

[…]She has to go through lot more waterlogged areas on her way from Juhu. I was fully clad in my new rain jacket and the rain pants as well as my floaters so I remained very dry all the way to work. The company bus was a little late, which was expected because of the rains. The journey to work however was no problem. I really wanted to take photographs but didn’t want to risk getting my cellphone wet. The rains worsened as the day passed and a good portion of Mumbai & Navi Mumbai offices let their people leave […]
[…]will remain is settling down. It’s a nice feeling planning out where everything should go in the new house. We went out shopping in the evening, this time to pick up stuff that I will carry back to India. Headed off to Ruwi to our usual dry fruit shop for some of that and then back to Lulu Hypermarket for the remainder of the shopping. I have a feeling I may have a problem with weight. Fingers crossed. This may also be my last post here in Muscat, because once we shift today I will not have an internet connection. […]

Finally went out shopping yesterday. Dad does most of his shopping at this new supermarket called Lulu. The location is on top of a hill and the place is so well lit up that you can see it from all around. I was rather impressed by the entire layout and this place has about 10 checkout counters! We spent three hours shopping! I hate shopping, but made an exception this time 😀 At the end of it we had enough grocery, juices, soft drinks and food to last a lifetime. This is excluding several shirts and t-shirts I picked up. […]

Got it fixed and brand as new 🙂 Spent whole of Saturday at home, a good part of the morning and afternoon cleaning around the house and with computer work. Met up with Cloreisha for a while before I head back […]
[…]and superhit music Verdict – Did not disappoint. Infact I quite enjoyed it! The movie includes a newcomer Kangana Ranaut and a relatively new guy Shiney Ahuja. As the name suggests it is a story of a Gangster, Daya Shankar (Shiney) and Simran (Kangana). Destiny gets them face to face and they fall in love. An adopted kid who is the apple of their eye and any place they can call home since a gangster cannot stay put in one place. Some close encounters with the cops, some with the underworld thugs, but they find their way out….out of India. […]
[…]Sabertooth tiger (Dennis Leary), the pack is back and all set for the migration. They make some new friends along the way, each with their own distinct personality. Scrat, the muskrat and the tragic comedy woven around his constant quest for his “lost nut” add some slapstick humour, and you might find this a little too fantastic…but it adds to the overall charm of the movie. One little inconsistency that cropped up was with respect to Ellie’s (Queen Latifah) size [And here I am referring only to the animated character! 😉 ]. The first time you catch a glimpse of […]
[…]as she passed along the aisle of the plane on the transatlantic flight from Amsterdam to New York, she noticed that the baby, nestled between the couple who were asleep, didn’t look very well, in fact it looked extremely ill. Not wanting to disturb anyone she gently lifted up the baby and took it back to her station. Feeling the baby’s forehead, she found it was cold and with a sudden panic she realized that the infant was dead. Calling upon a doctor she knew to be on board, he examined the baby and confirmed that, not only was it […]

[…]the layout, I make sure that I don’t make this mistake! Next, the singing. Though we always take new hymns, we usually make sure we teach them to the people. Unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to teach all of them this time, but I think we should have. Otherwise it just results in the congregation sitting quiet. Now for Good Friday. The singing was moderate and could have been better. One thing that really irritated me was the version of “Were you there when they crucified my Lord?”. Those of you are familiar with the hymn will know it […]
[…]definitely have it in you to break the mould of a sterotype Indian lead actor! Saif has matured as new age Indian Actor. First English movie. Good. Never mind the monotonous narrative which didnt enthuse me. Though I loved the kick-ass content of the narration. One production plug-in which TIMES INFOTAINMENT managed to incorporate was the HUTCH pug dog , the HUTCH ad posters, the LAYS chips. Am suprised the Parsee buildings were not painted with Asian Paints Royale and the characters didn’t brush their teeth with Colgate Gel (all Saif’s ads)!! Homi Adajania debuts with his brilliant directorial effort! […]

After a really tiring day at work, where we left only at 6.30 and really really very horrible traffic on the way home resulted in me reaching only past 8.30pm. Got ready and left immediately and made it to Santa Cruz in under 25min in heavy traffic! Had been informed that it would end by 10pm so wasn’t expecting to get much. However, the program took place in the hall upstairs and so […]

Got stuck in such horrible traffic that it was really very irritating. Thankfully I know all the roads on the way to Bandra and was able to bypass a good section of the traffic. Reached there way before the others and so just walked up and down the road waiting for them to come! Finally got in around 9pm and realized we were early! Took some […]

[…]the Litter and Fish Out of Water, attempt to save the world without sending the town into a whole new panic. I will admit that inspite of being way too old to watch this movie I liked it. The movie is well backed by a good soundtrack. The story is really childish but it does have a few funny scenes. But, I wouldn’t really recommend this movie unless you are taking your kids for it or if you like animated flicks. My rating: […]
[…]the windows and the rest of the hall. Also tidied up the area around my computer to arrange my new 5.1 speakers 🙂 Not completely pleased. Will probably put them in the four corners of my hall when we are doing it up. Had two masses in the evening. The first was the senior citizens’ mass at 4pm in our church’s community center. It was a small mass held specially for the oldies on the occasion of Christmas. This was followed by a small get-together for them with games and snacks (which we ate after the second mass). Was really […]

We had decided to go out for dinner followed by The Exorcism of Emily Rose, which was running at Fame Adlabs. However, mom announced that we had pomfret curry for dinner. Just couldn’t resist, so we decided to skip eating out and instead just go for the movie! Set off around 9.30pm, picked up the tickets and then spent some time at Barista in […]
[…]retired at all, and that this is the next set up. While Lola(Hayek) is busy settling into their new life and trying to find ways to keep busy, Max(Brosnan) is contemplating whether or not to steal the diamond. Now the question is, will he? Will Stan finally catch him after eight years of chasing him? Will Lola help Max steal it? And what of that shady character that has told Max he must steal the diamond for him? Went to watch the movie because of the above story line I read and also because of Brosnan. Well, didn’t expect too […]
[…]about the movie was that it was made really easy to understand, even for those who are rather new to exorcism (well I’m sure many of us are) as well as the Christianity. Only thing that was disappointing was the abrupt end to the movie. Maybe because it is based on a true story. It did leave us wanting more. Would have rated it a 5/10, but Jennifer’s performance pushes it to […]

But, I wonder on its effectiveness. Have kept the option of data-recovery using some kind of data-recovery software. I am hoping I don’t need that. This teaches me a lesson for not backing up and moving all my stuff to my new hard-drive. Have immediately gone ahead and backed up all my website data and installed games in case the whole drive gets screwed up! Wish […]
I have been working with WordPress since late 2003 and I released my first plugin on May 21, 2005. Soon after that I released two other plugins and the Connections Reloaded theme as well as a few hacks. Although many of them have since bitten the dust, I still maintain several plugins. Plugins don’t write themselves, people do. Design, development and maintenance is a time consuming process. I make it a point to thoroughly test the plugins before they are deployed and are also very well supported. All my projects are released under a GPL license and currently available absolutely free […]

Btw, the elections were for the Lok Sabha. Since, I was in Canossa I decided to pay a visit to Sr. Nellie as well as see the work I did for them. Am quite pleased to see their wall with the poster I designed for them. The print version could have […]

[…]evening went over to Melody‘s house to fix her comp as usual. Haven’t read her blog and so her new “baby” alsation (didn’t look like a baby to me) came as a major shock. To be honest, I’m terrified of dogs and in the two years that I have known her, I have kind of become used to having her three dogs around. Well, Tanner is a different story because he kept jumping on me. Nearly got me a heart attack! And the process of getting accustomed begins again… Anyway, after that, we went for Prayer Meeting. It’s been a […]
I’m considering Back in Black 2 in Blue as a new prospective theme for this blog. Gave it a preview install and it looks good. However, I am in for a lot of modifications to fit my taste and current setup I have with Connections Reloaded. Maybe when I can spare some […]
[…]haunts. Feasted on the Freshizza (as usual). Dropped her home after this. She has shifted into a new house in Vakola and so payed her folks a visit to check out the place. Nice quiet place, though I think I still prefer Andheri. Off to bed now, a long week ahead (don’t I always say this on every Sunday […]
It’s been over two years since I began blogging. My very first post was on October 1, 2003. Looking back I have come a long way since then. Mainly I’ve learnt a lot, my writings have improved and I’ve become a little more known (I think). Well, life moves on and I know I shall continue blogging because what started as an experiment has become a central part of my life. I’m enjoying it, and I do hope you are […]
[…]his dad was here from Calcutta I was asked to do so. Agreed because it was work and because I knew it would be an experience. And it was an experience indeed! Firstly, I never ever been to Pune by myself and hence know absolutely nothing of it. Booked a Volvo from Vashi and headed off to Pune. After much enquiring and thanks to the help of a local I landed at somewhat the right stop. As suggested by my vendor I caught a rickshaw to the place. First mistake. The vendors place is 20Km from Pune in some really […]
[…]from Spam. Comment spam is something every blogger is really really afraid of. Over the past two years that I have been using WordPress this is one problem that I have faced on and off. I realized that the amount of spam I was receiving was is direct relation to my popularity. (and I wasn’t that know then) After a lot of experimenting, I have finalized settled down on the following. I’m pretty much spam free for now. Firstly, get Bad Behavior installed. Bad Behavior blocks spam by checking Referer and a lot of other things the moment it touches […]
[…]a visit to my doctor and then went to the Orange shop to pick up my Reebok voucher for the new number I booked for my mother, which she doesn’t use! Got back home and slept the afternoon out. Also ordered for my Dual Voltage 512MB MMC for my Nokia 6681. Finally I can load my cell with more music to keep me occupied for hours 🙂 Also loaded Symbian OggPlay since the inbuilt Music Player is rather feature limited. Only need to figure out a good way to create ordered playlists on my […]
[…]Holmes Pages has been rechristianed to The Complete Works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and has a new web address. That ofcourse means that I once again have to start from scratch to get my Page Rank and popularity up 🙁 It also means that I have a lot of work coming up including a major redesign. As of now all the sites are online. I apologize to users trying to get my plugins and themes for the temporary downtime during the […]
[…]movie turned out to be fun. Good amount of funny points that kept us laughing throughout. At New York’s Central Park Zoo, a lion (Stiller), a zebra (Rock), a giraffe (Schwimmer), and a hippo (Smith) are best friends and stars of the show. But when one of the animals goes missing from their cage, the other three break free to look for him, only to find themselves reunited … on a ship en route to Africa. When their vessel is hijacked, however, the friends, who have all been raised in captivity, learn first-hand what life can be like in the […]
[…]guessed and the software has to be upgraded. Should get it tommorrow. Anyway, am planning to buy a new phone within the next week. Possibly, Nokia 3230 or Nokia 7650. However, my tech geek friend Gautam suggests Nokia 6630 or Nokia 6681 or Nokia 6680. Comparing phones on GSMArena.com. Let’s see what I turn up with. Any suggestions, recommendations? Remember the prices should be around those of the three above. As I’m a very poor boy 😉 Until then, it’s my Mom‘s Nokia 2300 […]

[…]though it had a bit of a sudden ending. Got back home and Kishore came over later with my new Sony DRU-800A 16x DVD Writer. Immediately got down to writing my first DVD. Actually, made a copy of one of the DVDs that my Dad brought with the player when he came down. Found out that dual layer discs are rather expensive, but also found out that I can easily split the DVD into two discs during the copying process. And it does take a good amount of time for copying. Tested them. Worked fine, but, I think there is […]

The discovery of a local teenage homicide whilst scanning the electronic Astoria Police archives prompts Rachel to uncover the truth behind it. Before long, Rachel has linked the homicide to the mysterious video tape. When Rachel is within reach of uncovering the secret, she finds and then destroys the killer videotape. Bad move. Soon after, Aidan is hospitalized; unconscious, perilously cold, and bruised. Rachel suspects this is the act of […]

Ran into this problem when I was reapplying my WordPress Hack. Didn’t think much of it until I read Alex’s post on it. In short the problem is that WordPress automatically converts quotes in your post to “smart” quotes. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem for you. But it will for someone who wants to copy and paste the content from your blog to their site. This becomes more severe when the content they are copy-pasting is code (as in the case of my hack). I noticed my blog giving javascript errors. I was able figure out the problem only […]
The weekend was fun. With the arrival of my new DVD player, I have been watching a lot of movies before going off to bed in the last few days. Watched Walking Tall on Wednesday and then the Big Bounce on Thursday. Got a haircut finally! And due to this, I had to rush off for the wedding mass immediately. So, you can imagine that I was in quite a mess during the mass. And absent minded me forgot to iron one sleeve :O Not many noticed but big mouth me ensured that they did 🙁 Was rather exhausted by […]
[…]of his last renegade recruitment, once again finds himself in need of an outsider. Gibbons and his new agent (Ice Cube) must track a dangerous military splinter group, led by Willem Dafoe, that is conspiring to overthrow the U.S. Government in the nation’s capital. Was hoping for a similar experience, but I was left wanting. The movie had some good scenes but it heavily missed out the Vin Diesel factor. Went with her to Pizza Hut after the movie and had more than our fill before I dropped her home. Next stop was Sacred Heart Church for a 3-in-1 wedding […]
That’s what it has come to. Visited the doctor on my way home from work. Been to a new doctor this time and she seemed good. Not many medicines and took two days meds as I want to go for the prayer meeting in the evening. But, woke up this morning and found my head spinning, so decided it is better to take the day off. My cold has gotten worse but the cough has improved. So, here I am at home. I desperately need some rest so am going to make the most of […]

[…]epicenter here. I was at work when the Earthquake struck. Didn’t feel any tremors. Tomorrow’s newspapers will be full of stories about this. Ohh… mine was the second site on the web to list this. How can I tell that? Well, I scourged through all the popular news sites and only Rediff had it listed. And ummmm, I quoted the above text from there ;)) Incidently, today was a rather destructive day. As I was on my way to work, just near my office we passed by an accident site. Could tell that it was a rather gruesome accident of […]
[…]a few hours and it has been one tiring week. Have started working on our I/O modules, including a new design and as a result, a good amount of my work time is spent in researching for it. Had a severe headache as well as cold and cough on Monday. Visited the doctor after work and since I have missed quite a few practices and with Easter around the corner, I made it a point to go for practice yesterday despite the headache. Learnt a few more hymns and practiced a few old, but was really zonked and made it […]

[…]good and we sang very well, if I should say so myself. Made a stopover at home and got into my new jacket and got ready for the wedding. Horrible traffic on our journey there and we reached only at 8.45am, though very much in time. The wedding reception was simply excellent. It was held in Juhu Hotel and when we left by 12.30am, the party was still on. Danced a real lot. Caught Rachna (upstairs neighbour) for the wedding march and thankfully SueEllen was there, so had my dance partner. And she got busy teaching me some jive, so […]

Besides being very sleek looking, it has an umpteen amount of features. Always thought my Nokia 6610 rocked, but it really pales in comparison to the 6230. Key features of the phone are: Video recorder and player Digital VGA camera Active TFT color display Bluetooth wireless technology Streaming video and audio Music player for MP3 and AAC files Stereo FM radio EDGE and GPRS MultiMediaCard (MMC) Full list of […]
[…]back home and get ready for the evening. Polished my shoes clean, put on my suit (have to buy a new one soon) and off I went to reach church in time. Reached there and tragedy struck! Hit my lip badly on chotu Clayton’s head, so I had a nice bleeding lip which soon swelled up. Went around telling everyone that I now have a quarter of Angelina Jolie’s lip. Mass was good, but since I don’t know Konkani, it was pretty much unintelligent. The party began immediately after mass, without our mandatory wedding march (though it wasn’t a wedding), […]

Not to mention, catching up with the pile of work that has been pending because of the […]

[…]Was happy to see the smile on their faces, especially my bro 🙂 Also picked up a pair of New Balance shoes. They are an American brand of shoes coming to India for the first time. I usually never buy branded shoes, but was finally planning to buy either a Reebok or a Nike. Fell in love with these shoes. Really cool pair and didn’t really cost a tonne besides being a branded pair. My first shopping spree since I started working. Doesn’t really happen on a regular basis, but I enjoyed […]

After the movie, we had a small party until around 10pm followed by dinner. Didn’t eat much ’cause, I feasted at the party:O The next day’s session was about Cost Leadership, Paradigm Shift and Management of Change. All the lectures were very entertaining and enriching, especially the one on Paradigm Shift, where we were shown a film by Joel Barker. We […]

Reached there much before time. Infact, going to her place via Sion took me less time than reaching my own home! Had an excellent time at the movie. Went expecting to be really bad, but it turned out quite good, though the synchronization of the audio and video during the songs could have been better. Overall a good job by Chadha. I won’t […]
[…]that on Saturday. Went in the morning to Sidharth‘s place. Then went off with Mom to buy our new washing machine from Plugin. Selected a Samsung 6.0kg model, which was delivered to our place by evening. Got back home and decided to give my bike her weekly washing. Wanted to do a quick job, but seeing the amount of dirt on it, I gave the bike a good cleanup. Took me nearly 2 hours, as usual, to clean it up. She is sparkling clean again 🙂 Also had to restore the Ghost image of my partition, as I succeeded in […]
[…]some money, I wasn’t able to make it on time there, so chucked the plan. Friday dawned, a bright new day. I had to decide to begin coding and used the ready-made program for generating PWM waves. However, the program failed miserably, because the DSP refused to output any wave, no matter how hard I tried! As usual, I got my colleague to help me. He’s been rather helpful and a good guide. We sat and debugged and I realized, my logic was all wrong, as the system is active low! I still haven’t gotten the PWM wave to work, […]

[…]only after 5.30pm and after Nikhil left, I took Mom to the Reliance Web World Showroom to get us a new Reliance Land Line. I had to pay with my Card, because we didn’t expect them to take cash then and there! And we wouldn’t get the piece immediately if we paid by check. This is my first transaction, and it did give me a thrill 😀 My throat and mouth still aches. I guess I may have to visit the doc again tomorrow. Hate […]

Remembered that I needed to update my blog and so here I […]

After this, I was about to approach him again, when he himself came out to bless my bike. It felt really great that he remembered that I asked him to bless my bike. My few pals gathered around as he blessed Flame! I am on top of the world! Returned home after that and did a bit of cleanup work around my computer. Going out in […]

There’s choir practise in the evening, so that will be […]

Awoke this morning to find that http://m-center.net works perfectly now, but the email to it is bouncing. So now I got it pointing to my free account at AS Hosting (where I am a Forum Super Moderator). Hopefully within 48 hours everything will be fine. Now, I shall go complete my journals. Got to go sing for mass in the evening. Everyone is going to be really […]
[…]I went back to her place, with her folks to setup the projector and laptop for the movie. Am very new to all this, and thanks to Melody and her dad, I am learning quite a bit! Melody’s entire church prayer group had assembled to watch the Passion of the Christ. The VCD was a cam-print, but the print and the sound was really clear for it. The movie is amazingly done and seems very well researched. The actors are amazing. The Passion of our Lord, is so well detailed. The Agony in the Garden, the Sourging, the Crowning with […]

Next met Nimit, a friend of Subhashree, who happened to know quite a few pals of mine! Spent some time in Lokhandwala Barista. Nimit, who knows how to play, got hold of the “4-string” guitar there, which we returned with three strings! Next reached back to Nikhil’s place, picked up the kinetic, got stuck in traffic and finally reached home around 1.15 am. Have to attend a Robotics class this (Sunday) evening, so my life is going […]

After they had left, I found the same problems, so disconnected the system and reconnected mine back again! This turned out to be good, as I got my internet connection back again! However, as predictable, the net is down as I write this blog entry. I must seriously consider shifting! But then again, WHERE:O:?::O I had a good end to the day, as I received an email from L&T regarding a visit to the Powai Works on Saturday! Gonna be […]

I had also put up the introduction and three chapters of The XHTML tutorial for Beginners at my site Tutorials @ AjayDSouza.com yesterday. Today I added three more chapters to the tutorial. Better Search replaces the default WordPress search engine with a more powerful search engine that gives search results relevant to the title and content of the post. Now You See Me also stars Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, who play Thaddeus (the magician killer?) and Arthur Tressler (the billionaire). Now You See Me has an exciting story line that keeps you at the edge of your seats as the magicians pull off their magic tricks and as Thaddeus attempts to explain them and Dylan attempts to catch them. The last two weeks have been busy, as usual. Last week had a Software Project Management class followed by which I caught a Volvo to Mumbai to get away from the weekend long powercuts. Spend time with the special someone. Came back to Pune and immediately got down to work with my FSA case. Was called away by my director to help restore the contacts on his Nokia N96. After struggling for a good amount of time with trying to use Nokia Contact Manager to import the CSV file, I realized it was easier to do the transfer via Outlook […]
Once you register for Snap Preview AnywhereTM you receive a code which you need to add to your template. Within this code is a key= followed by a 32-character key. e.g. on this blog, the 32-character key is 31f0e1b8935c4f07cb6f1cf99bfb1521. This key is unique to your site and hence you need to register separately for each of your sites. Once you get the 32-bit key you will need to enter this into the Options page in […]
FeedBurner provides an excellent feed service that lets you track how many users are subscribed to your feed and more. Users can still bypass your FeedBurner feed and continue to subscribe to your original blog feed. While this is not a problem, your stats may not give you slightly inaccurate number of your feed subscribers. A good option is the WordPress FeedBurner Plugin, which will redirect all your feeds to Feedburner. If you do not wish to use another plugin or if, like me, you are redirecting a category feed, (I got one for Connections Reloaded), then you can redirect […]
I have now made available a button which you can add to your Google Toolbar. This button allows you one-click access to this blog. Additionally, you can directly search this blog using Google Toolbar itself. Lastly, the button automatically displays the ten latest posts from this blog via an RSS feed, so you don’t even need a feedreader for the same. For those who still prefer to use a feed reader we offer the following feeds. Note that you will need v4.0 of the Google Toolbar. If you don’t have it, clicking on the link above will prompt you to […]
I guess this joke gives you a good idea how I feel! 10 – You’re so tired you now answer the phone, “Hell.” 9 – Your friends call to ask how you’ve been, and you immediately scream, “Get off my back, bitch!” 8 – Your garbage can is your inbox. 7 – You wake up to discover your bed is on fire, but go back to sleep because you just don’t care. 6 – You have so much on your mind, you’ve forgotten how to pee. 5 – Visions of the upcoming weekend help you make it through Monday. 4 […]
Just got my report from the pathology lab. Things appear to be normal to me (though I can’t be sure as I am not a Doctor). There is a high count of Lymphocytes in my blood, but WikiPedia says it could be a sign of a viral infection (yes, I couldn’t wait for the doctor), so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Anyway, will visit the Doctor in an hour, so will come to know for sure if anything is […]

Seems like I seem to be boasting about my blog the past few days. Well, I have reason to 🙂 I wrote about being No. 2 on Sitescore about two weeks back. Since then I hovered around 2-4. Today I was genuinely shocked and extremely delighted to see ajaydsouza.com at No. 1! As usual, saved a screenshot for myself. I’m followed in the number 2 spot by Andreas, who without doubt has an excellent website. What is your score? Calculate and let me […]
After having thought about it a while I’ve decided to use Google Apps for Your Domain for AjayDSouza.com. I have already been using Google Apps to manage WebberZone email for a while now, and now AjayDSouza.com 🙂 What this means is now I have a 2Gb Email account, which has all the features of Gmail (which IMO is second only to Yahoo! Mail). This is very useful because I can take a considerable load of my VPS. I have also found that Gmail’s anti-spam tools are a lot better than SpamAssassin. I also have complete POP and SMTP access if […]
Within just two weeks another tragedy has hit Mumbai. After heavy rains last week that brought Mumbai to a standstill and we were just resuming life as normal we faced riots yesterday when the Shiv Sena went out on a rampage shutting shops and pelting stones and burning buses all over Mumbai and Maharashtra. And this evening the Mumbai was rocked by eight serial blasts at Borivili (two), Khar, Meera Road, Matunga, Jogeshwari, Bhayander railway stations and on the Khar-Santacruz subway. This isn’t the first time Mumbai has been rocked by blasts. Everyone remembers the 1993 bomb blasts as well […]
