    Happy New Year 2020!

If you were born in the 80s, raised in the 90s and made it to 2020: You have lived in 4 different decades, 2 different centuries, 2 different millennia and you’re not even 40 yet! Anonymous a.k.a. a WhatsApp forward As 2019 draws to a close and with 2020 on the horizon, I’d like to begin this post by wishing you a Happy New Year 2020! Keeping with a very long term tradition, below is a snapshot of my life in 2019. Life In early January, Ashwina and I took Fr. Michael out for dinner. This was a farewell dinner as he made his way to Rome to finish his…

    Happy New Year 2019!

Sitting here on the final day of 2018, I’d like to wish all my regular and irregular readers a Happy New Year 2019. Keeping with my long tradition, here’s my life in review post for 2018. Do you agree with Dilbert’s view on resolutions? I know I’ve barely kept mine from last year. Work Work takes up a significant portion of our lives, mine included. 2018 was a long year for me at work including a tonne of projects, long hours and quite a bit of travel. Life 2018 involved quite a bit of travelling for Ashwina and me. India We started the year with our annual trip to India.…

    Happy New Year 2018!

As most good things come to an end, so must 2017. Browsing through my list of posts for the past two years, I realised that I completely missed out a Happy New Year post for 2017. Can’t miss that two years in a row now, can we? 2017 – A Year in Review Life… I began 2017 in India, more specifically being ill in Bangalore where I (as did Ashwina) spent a good portion of the holiday in bed recovering from bad allergy attacks. Apparently I can’t handle the pollen and pollution anymore! At least it got better when I got back to Mumbai where we were soon well enough…

So what is ajaydsouza.com all about?

This blog has been called lots of things: excellent, good, fun, enjoyable, and even boring, monotonous, horrendous (ok not this one). The most recent comment has been “boring”. So, why was it called boring. Because, it has been a while since I made a personal post. This blog sees two types of visitors, viz. those who visit my blog for the personal posts and those who visit my blog for the WordPress related posts, plugins and the theme. When I started ajaydsouza.com in October 2003, I had only one thing in mind, blogging about my life. In fact, even till today, most of my posts are still filed under Personal.…

    2006 – I think it was Good

Looking back at 2006, I think the year went well. It has been a very healthy year for my blog for sure. I hit into the top 100,000 websites on Alexa and today stand in the top 50,000. Good achievement for a small blog of a small person on the WWW 🙂 But, I do have a very very fluctuating rank as you can see in the graph above. I know a lot of users believe that Alexa is flawed, and i think so too, but at the end of the day, its the rank that gets the advertisers!

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn’t supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it’s harder every time. You’ll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You’ll fight with your best friend. You’ll blame a new love for things an old one did. You’ll cry because time is passing too fast, and you’ll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you’ve never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you’ll never…

Everything I need to know about Life…

Everything I need to know about Life, I learned from Noah’s Ark Don’t miss the boat Remember that we are all in the same boat Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark Stay fit. When you are 600yrs old, someone may ask you to do something really big! Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done Build your future on high ground For safety’s sake, travel in pairs Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs When you’re stressed, float a while Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals. No matter…

    Zonals 50

After yet another exhausting work week in which I spent Thursday working till 8.15pm in office, I was really really looking forward to the weekend. Had planned to buy my cell this weekend, however, it didn’t happen. Elvis and Delilah are back and Melody had booked tickets for St. Andrew’s Parish Zonals. I was under the impression that it would only be a series of plays. However, it turned out to be more. I was really impressed by the talent of the youngsters especially those on the piano. And when I say, youngsters, I mean really young. The plays were moderate and so the instrumentals and the singers were the…

    A horrible day

Work today went on rather fine so no complains about that, but the rest of it was really crappy. This was mainly because my Nokia 6230 started giving problems! :(( The menus have started behaving very weirdly and I guess it is because of it getting wet in the rains that stormed Mumbai last week! On my way home I’ve given it for repairs. Been told what I guessed and the software has to be upgraded. Should get it tommorrow. Anyway, am planning to buy a new phone within the next week. Possibly, Nokia 3230 or Nokia 7650. However, my tech geek friend Gautam suggests Nokia 6630 or Nokia 6681…

    Frustrating, exhausting week

It almost the end of a really tiring, frustrating week. Monday was a nice day at work. Didn’t go for practice as I had to work in the evening. Tuesday the 26th will always be remembered as one disastrous day in Mumbai history.
