    SCM Ratings and Pongal Lunch

Began the week with a presentation in Advances in SCM on Tuesday (Monday was just another day). Our job was to rate the supply chain of any company in any sector. We chose Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. We had to rate their Inventory Turnover, Asset Turnover and Cash-to-cash cycle time to arrive at the final rating. Yesterday was Pongal, which is a festival celebrated by Tamils on the first day of Thai to mark the harvest. As part of Pongal, there was a special lunch organized with a huge variety of food, sweets etc. Needless to say I ate a good deal 🙂 Spent the rest of the day in my room…

    75% MBA

As I mentioned, I returned to SCMHRD, rather reluctantly I must say. Spent the entire day catching up on blogging and finally got down to finishing the synopsis for the Finance paper before retiring to bed. Realized I had forgotten one of my hard disks in Mumbai itself, which means a good amount of entertainment awaits my return. Friday was lecture day. It began with a four hour lecture (which got cut short to two) of Strategic Marketing and this was followed by an Advances in SCM lecture. Dinner on Friday night was at McDonalds when a whole bunch of us headed out there. The normally freezing AC at the…

    Room 103 – All Placed!

Those of you following me on Twitter would have seen a status message that read: Room 103 is the first room in college to get placed. Akshat and me were place by November 25 and late last Thursday night, we got the good news that Aditya too was placed. In fact he’s got an excellent job with one of the highest salaries in campus 🙂 And, we are a hungry group. So, we booked a cab on Friday night and headed out to Stone Water Grill in Koregoan Park. This was recommended to us by a friend and it was a first visit to the place. Turned out to be…

SAS, FSA and SCM. There’s more…

Went out on Sunday night to Mezza9. Ate and drank well 🙂 After strugging for three days with SAS, we finalized and gave our presentation on Monday. On Tuesday we had our Financial Statement Analysis re-mid term. I missed the original exam due to the CGN Thought Process Improvement workshop. Prepared well for it. Can’t afford to risk an important exam in finance. Today was a relatively lighter day and spent some time blogging. Finished our International Economics report and now have to work on my Supply Chain Modeling assignment due tomorrow. There is an Mergers and Acquisitions valuation that also needs to be done by weekend along with yet…

    Pain in the SAS

Have spent the last two days working on a SAS presentation that is scheduled for this evening. Our topic is Business Decision Making in FMCG industry using SAS Enterprise Miner. Everything would have been fine and hunky dory, except that we do not know anything in SAS! So, the last two days has been a desperate attempt of learning Enterprise Miner. SAS and Enterprise Miner are both extremely complicated softwares to work with without formal training. In addition to this, we had to find our own data. Are we in MBA-II or is this self-paced learning? The funniest part of the whole exercise is that his part is supposed to…

    Ten Busy Days

The last week has be very crazy. Having worked on our Financial Statement Analysis, we finally submitted the same on October 2. Our presentation was rescheduled for 8th due to the upcoming summer placements. Spent Saturday, Sunday and Monday cooped up in the vipasana hall working at the helpdesk for the summer placements of the juniors. I’m not at liberty to discuss this, but I can say that we did a good amount of work, spent a good amount of time doing all kinds of activities and lastly eating and drinking till we burst! 😀 8th was a packed day. Woke up early in the morning to give a 7am…

    Supply Chains and Social Entrepreneurship

Mentioned the schedule for the week yesterday. There are two major changes. Firstly, the learn by rote Corporate Governance exam has been postponed to the 7th. And, the scarier SAP-BIW exam has been scheduled for Friday 🙁 Woke up at 6.45am today to give the Supply Chain Modeling FCQ. The exam started at 7.15am amidst confusion and clarification over the 1st question. This turned out to be the easier and the solvable one for me. I knew the solution for the second one on paper but had absolutely no clue how to convert the solution into Excel 🙁 Whichever subject I choose, operations research follows me :'( This followed by…

Home, N96, FSA and Luxury Marketing

The last two weeks have been busy, as usual. Last week had a Software Project Management class followed by which I caught a Volvo to Mumbai to get away from the weekend long powercuts. Spend time with the special someone. Came back to Pune and immediately got down to work with my FSA case. Was called away by my director to help restore the contacts on his Nokia N96. After struggling for a good amount of time with trying to use Nokia Contact Manager to import the CSV file, I realized it was easier to do the transfer via Outlook Express and Nokia Sync. Everything went perfect. Got back to…

    More Interviews and Tests

Spent most of Sunday working on the Project Management presentation for Monday evening and so had to spend the little time available on Monday morning preparing for the Corporate Finance quiz. The quiz turned out to be dedicated to the time value of money which was pretty decent, so I won’t complain about that. Could have done better I guess. Tuesday usually is a light day, as is Wednesday. However, they are usually consumed in working on the new Financial Statement Analysis case or some other assignment that manages to crop up. Monday to Wednesday evenings were spent interviewing juniors for the Admissions Core Committee, the last obligation we have…

    SCMHRD Life Continues

Returned from Mumbai early Monday morning. Awoke nice and early and caught the 6.15am Volvo from Teli Gali. Reached here around 10.30 and immediately got down to studying my Corporate Finance assignment. Had classes on all days of the week except for Wednesday, which was an equally busy day. Also got asked out for freshers. Didn’t expect it so soon. Took an expected surprise test in the FSA class. I’m far from where I need to be. Also have an FCQ in the Corporate Finance on Monday as well as a presentation for Project Management (Ops) on SPACE analysis and BCG Matrix. So, basically got my hands full all of…
