    Happy birthday to me!

It sure has been a while since I wrote a personal post and today is definitely a good day to write one as I celebrate my birthday today! The day turned out to be quiet yet positively eventful. Got some good news yesterday at work, which has become really hectic over the past several months, or should I say year? At the US embassy This morning began with me making a trip to the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square for a relatively early morning appointment. I’ve always wanted to make a trip to the States but never found an opportunity just yet. With a trip on the horizon, the first…

    Thank you Mrs. D’Souza

This post is 3 weeks overdue. But, like they say, better late than never! Some of you might know that I celebrated my birthday on August 16. And, this time around, Ashwina decided that she was going to spare no expense, which works perfectly to my advantage 😉 The first thing amongst them all was my Bose QC20 noise cancelling headphones. Although, they are on the expensive side, you definitely get what you paid for. Once you switch them on, it filters out all the noise perfectly. The real test for this was when I carried them along with me on the Jubilee line, which by far is the noisiest train…

And it’s a decade of blogging!

Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of this blog. What started as an experiment to check out a new blogging tool called WordPress back in 2003 has become an integral part of my life. I completed my engineering and worked as an engineer in one of the leading engineering companies from India. I then went out to do my MBA, became an investment Banker and relocated to London. And, I married the most beautiful woman in the world. And even went on quite a few holidays! WordPress became an integral part of my life as well. My theme became famous and my plugins have a fantastic user base. And, I have…

    A year older… and a lot wiser…

It’s my birthday today! With that, I edge just one year away from three-tenths of a century. And, as a gift to met, I’ve spent a good portion of the night working on a new theme for this blog, one which was long pending. After a lot of searching I came across Paperpunch Theme by The Theme Foundry which I fell in love with almost instantly. Paperpunch is a clean and easy to use theme, yet comes packed with some decent free features. You can upgrade to the Pro version which makes life a lot easier! My plugin Add to Footer definitely made life a bit easier, since I didn’t…

A Movie, a Trip and lots of coding

Blame it on the coding or blame it on laziness or just lack of time due to other pursuits, but this blog hasn’t seen a personal update for a while. I caught the first day evening show of Valkyrie on Friday the 20th on Suburbia, Bandra. Definitely worth watching once. Prices of movie tickets are supposed to have been reduced, but I definitely didn’t see that! I’ve been busy working on my plugins all of last week. The first one to to be updated was Twitter Counter followed by Contextual Related Posts and Open Browser Window. I’ve an update for a few other plugins lined up as well as one…

A Birthday Party and a Farewell Dinner

Friday at 12am we brought in Sneha‘s birthday by cutting her cake and dirtying her. After a long day of lectures on Friday, in which we gave two presentations in Strategic Management, we headed out to the city. Sneha and Namrata had finalized on a joint called TC’s in FC Road. We had booked the place for eleven people. Caught the 7.30pm bus from college which drops us at Atur Center from where we caught rickshaws to the place. TC’s is decently sized place with a good ambience and service. However, I really wonder why they needed to have the lights fading into various colors! The prices weren’t that high…

An Anniversary, a Birthday and a Journey

After a quiet two days at home, I finally ventured out on Sunday evening for mass. I?ve realized that I can spend days at home without evening stepping outside and not even think twice about it. Pizzas always get delivered, don?t they? 😉 Anyway, Sunday the 4th also marked the 28th Wedding Anniversary of my parents and since Dad isn?t here I decided to take Mom out for dinner. However, she chose to order home and so be it. Dinner was Chicken Manchurian, Prawns Masala and Chicken Fried rice. We tried a smaller new restaurant near my place instead of the regular one I ordered. While the chicken was good,…

    Shopping and Church

Fourth semester at SCMHRD is one of the most relaxed semesters. We have Neev just around the corner and so I am relatively free. Decided to go to church today. Maria was pleased since she has been after me to do so for a long long time! Am sure my Mom too was pleased. Today was the feast of Christ the King as well as it happens to be my brother’s birthday. The feast of Christ the King marks the end of the liturgical year. This is usually a big event in my church back in Mumbai. Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. I can finally start playing…
