Dad arrived from Muscat today for a short visit. As expected, when Dad comes down here, a good amount of technology arrives with him ;)

This time he brought a Sony HandyCAM, viz. the DCR-DVD905E. Read the review on CNET Asia

The Sony DCR-DVD905E

Well, he’s taking back my Olympus C470. I have absolutely no complains :))

I haven’t yet gotten down to playing around with the HandyCAM, but here is a list of specifications.

What I really like is the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* Lens and even better its direct-to-disc recording. Then again I am a ZERO in cameras, so I still have to find the true potential of the camera. :O

From the Carl Zeiss site:

Vario-Sonnar lens
The Vario-Sonnar is a lens with an infinitely variable focal length which can replace a whole series of lenses for a certain picture format. The imaging performance is excellent across the entire range of focal length and is equal to that of a set of high-quality lenses. The infinitely variable focal length permits fast and exact framing.

Am off for breakfast and then to class now. Got a good deal of time to play around later :)
