Should I shift from Gmail to Windows Live Mail or Yahoo?

For the second time yesterday, I awoke to find my Gmail account locked. This is the second time that this has happened. The only notification is that it is locked for unusual activity. The “help” page states these as: Receiving, deleting, or downloading large amounts of mail via POP or IMAP in a short period of time. If you’re getting the error message, ‘Lockdown in Sector 4,’ you should be able to access Gmail again after waiting 24 hours. Sending a large number of undeliverable messages (messages that bounce back). Using file-sharing or file-storage software, browser extensions, or third party software that automatically logs in to your account. Leaving multiple…

An Anniversary, a Birthday and a Journey

After a quiet two days at home, I finally ventured out on Sunday evening for mass. I?ve realized that I can spend days at home without evening stepping outside and not even think twice about it. Pizzas always get delivered, don?t they? 😉 Anyway, Sunday the 4th also marked the 28th Wedding Anniversary of my parents and since Dad isn?t here I decided to take Mom out for dinner. However, she chose to order home and so be it. Dinner was Chicken Manchurian, Prawns Masala and Chicken Fried rice. We tried a smaller new restaurant near my place instead of the regular one I ordered. While the chicken was good,…

The URL to subscribe to is https://ajaydsouza.com/feed/. Subscribing to this URL will ensure that any updates at our end will not affect you. Google doesn’t like this blog!

A PR update was in the works and I guess it has happened. And unfortunately it seems like this blog PR has dropped and dropped straight down to zero from a PR of 5. I’m totally clueless how this has happened and am hoping this is only a transition. Or will I have to wait for another three months? Anybody have a clue on what I should be doing to get this straightened out? Update: Seems like this is considered to be normal. Atleast according to reports from Blog Herald and zz Online Marketing. Update 2: Matt Cutts confirms.

My Mail is now hosted with Google

After having thought about it a while I’ve decided to use Google Apps for Your Domain for AjayDSouza.com. I have already been using Google Apps to manage WebberZone email for a while now, and now AjayDSouza.com 🙂 What this means is now I have a 2Gb Email account, which has all the features of Gmail (which IMO is second only to Yahoo! Mail). This is very useful because I can take a considerable load of my VPS. I have also found that Gmail’s anti-spam tools are a lot better than SpamAssassin. I also have complete POP and SMTP access if I need to download any email. I can also use…

How to Fix Google Reader in Opera

If you have been using Google Reader, you would have noticed that it doesn’t work with Opera as of now. However, there is a fix available for the same which is very easy to apply. Get hold of reader.js and save it to some location on your PC, e.g. C:Program FilesOperaprofilecache4 In Opera, visit http://www.google.com/reader/ and then right click in the page your Google Reader page, click Edit site preferences Go to Scripting and see the box for choosing a file there? type the path to reader.js that you got in Step 1. i.e. C:Program FilesOperaprofilecache4reader.js in our example. Refresh the page. Source: YesWhyYen and Tech-Buzz

    Search this Blog with Google

Not that you couldn’t do it before, but now Google search has been integrated perfectly with this blog. I have still maintained the option of using the inbuilt search because that will give you the best result. However, if you want to search comments as well, then Google can help you. There are three ways for you to use Google to search: 1. Enter your search term in the search box in the right sidebar and click the Google button. 2. If your search term doesn’t find anything in the inbuilt search, the result page will provide you a form to search using Google. 3. Visit the Google Search page…

My blog on your Google Toolbar

I have now made available a button which you can add to your Google Toolbar. This button allows you one-click access to this blog. Additionally, you can directly search this blog using Google Toolbar itself. Lastly, the button automatically displays the ten latest posts from this blog via an RSS feed, so you don’t even need a feedreader for the same. For those who still prefer to use a feed reader we offer the following feeds. Note that you will need v4.0 of the Google Toolbar. If you don’t have it, clicking on the link above will prompt you to install the same.
