    24 Church Bulletin Board Bloopers!

Announcements in church are a part and parcel of the church experience. Not to mention people clamouring outside the church bulletin board to read the too long ones. But, when you have bloopers like these… The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals. The sermon this morning: ‘Jesus Walks on the Water.’ The sermon tonight: ‘Searching for Jesus.’ Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.. Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say ‘Hell’ to someone who doesn’t care much about you.…

    Back to Bangalore

Having spent rather exhausting three days in Mumbai, I met up with Sneha, Akshat and Neha for pizzas at the Pizza Hut in Powai. Was surprised to see a whole new menu on offer. There have been several good additions to the menu, but there have been equally bad ones. Going to check if the menu has been updated in Bangalore as well. I headed off home soon after dinner. Friday and Saturday both turned out to be extremely rainy days. However, the newspapers claim that it rained everywhere except the lakes! Began packing for returning to Bangalore this morning. It doesn’t take much time when you have minimal dumping…

    Three weeks back

One thing I love about where I work is that I don’t need to wait six months before I can take leave. This is usually a requirement of most companies. Out here, I’ve planned my leave well in advance, the first one begins today, for a week. This blog post will take you three weeks back. I’ve had three weeks which have been so filled with work (yes, that is a usual statement I make) that my initial plan of updating the blog took a back seat. Anyway, three weeks back, I met up with Maria, who, along with her sister, has been complaining that I’ve spent more than two…

A Birthday Party and a Farewell Dinner

Friday at 12am we brought in Sneha‘s birthday by cutting her cake and dirtying her. After a long day of lectures on Friday, in which we gave two presentations in Strategic Management, we headed out to the city. Sneha and Namrata had finalized on a joint called TC’s in FC Road. We had booked the place for eleven people. Caught the 7.30pm bus from college which drops us at Atur Center from where we caught rickshaws to the place. TC’s is decently sized place with a good ambience and service. However, I really wonder why they needed to have the lights fading into various colors! The prices weren’t that high…

    Shopping and Church

Fourth semester at SCMHRD is one of the most relaxed semesters. We have Neev just around the corner and so I am relatively free. Decided to go to church today. Maria was pleased since she has been after me to do so for a long long time! Am sure my Mom too was pleased. Today was the feast of Christ the King as well as it happens to be my brother’s birthday. The feast of Christ the King marks the end of the liturgical year. This is usually a big event in my church back in Mumbai. Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. I can finally start playing…

Goa Travels: Day 6 – Church

We slept quite late (infact early in the morning) after the barbecue on Saturday and it was quite a bit of a problem awaking by 7am to make it for the 8am mass. However, we did struggle out of our beds and get ready. Now Thivim Chapel is right on top of the hill, which means a great deal of walking indeed! Walking is bad enough, walking up a hill is worse, walking up a hill in the heat can be a real pain, but walking up a hill in the heat in formals is a real killer! By the time we were at the top we were totally drenched…

    The Holy Week

This post just about sums up all of Holy Week. To begin, we’ve had practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday for our singing at Good Friday 2007. Two things that we do and do good besides the singing are the hymn sheets and the dressing. This time I made the hymn sheets. It’s in PDF format for those interested. Spent all of Wednesday morning with U. Conrad and James in church arranging for the printing work done as well as practice for the part of Pilate in the Passion (we were reading). Changing from our regular choice of colors, we decided to go all black with white ties this year…

    Update for the Week

Sitting at home sure can have its plus sides, especially when your not tensed about which MBA college you’re getting into 🙂 Have spent the entire week at home doing nothing but blogging and other computer related activity. I’m also running out of time before the online course starts. The only break in schedule was to go to church this morning for Sunday mass. We were singing. Mass was relatively low-key and the attendance was poor because of the missions that are starting today. Tomorrow I venture out of house once again to go for my GD and PI for XIMB. Will leave at 7am. I haven’t woken up before…
