Travel, Repairs, Changed Plans, Movie and Lunch

Dad’s down 🙂 for another day and when he is down, we usually set out for a father-son-on-a-bike-visiting trip. This time the destination was banks. We visited five banks in the area of Andheri and Vile Parle. We also managed to grab some vadapav and sugarcane juice, both of which will be eternal favourites for any Mumbaite. I remembered that I could get my N73 repaired. The joystick button was messed up and so needed to get the entire pad changed. Dad too had lost the tiny cap of the joystick of his N73. Gave my phone for repair and spent a good five hours with an almost zero contact…

    Two Months in a Post

Can’t believe my last personal post was on March 4th.. Then we were just getting into the exam spirit and a lot has happened since then. For starters, we had to get through a barrage of exams, that just didn’t seem to stop. Everyone desperately looked towards March 29th, the last day of the exams, also the day when we could all rush home. Exams were ok, though they seem to be at some point of my distant past! 🙂 Headed to Mumbai on 29th, dropped off my bags, picked up my bike from ABJ, who has been taking good care of it. Work began on April 7th. I got…

    SCMHRD in your City

As part of the Admissions Drive, we, the Admissions Team are organizing a contact programme in Mumbai and twelve other cities. The event in Mumbai will take place in Ruia College, Matunga. I sent out the emails two days back and in less than 24 hours we had all the slots in most cities full! I’ll be leaving for Mumbai in the next half hour. Got a function to attend tomorrow evening and the full day will be busy in Sunday. Plan to return to Pune on Tuesday. Will probably be carrying the Admissions Cell, which in itself is capable of powering a mini-call center! Will blog from Mumbai when…

I celebrated my Birthday on 16th

Should have posted this a while back, but as usual original posts coming out of a budding MBA student can be rare. Anyway, I came down to Mumbai on 14th on college work. Our job was to interview an entrepreneur. The problem, he didn’t really have the time. So, this turned out to be a failed project, where the three of us travelled to town, took photographs of a deserted room and then headed home. Found out that Marol is now connected to Seepz by a flyover, which has cut down my commutation time by over 25 minutes. Awoke at 5.30am to leave for Pune and made it back in time…

    A Month at SCMHRD

It’s been almost a month since my last post. And it just goes to show how tied up MBA life has kept me. Based on feedback from seniors this is going to be the case for atleast another two or so months. A lot has happened since then, and I’ll just be summarizing a few of the main events in this post. To begin with, we had our foundation course exams. Principles of Management is a sure flunk, and that’s the case of most of the batch. My maths paper ended up with hundreds of silly mistakes and clearing this seems to be a bleak possibility. The financial accounting paper…

    Mumbai Darshan

I had posted about how frustrating the entire application process for XLRI has been. Yesterday my friend and I set out to buy the forms. She has called up the State Bank of India, Mahim branch which was selling the forms.

Municipal Corporator redirects Water Supply to Club

I haven’t been blogging about this, but for a good number of weeks we have been facing a severe water shortage. This water shortage is strange because only my lane has that problem. The problem has been getting even worse daily with even lesser water coming every day. Today, I guess temperatures of all the people in the area had reached a limit and I just got reports of a major rasta-roko early this morning. The case got out of hand I hear, so the police had to be called in. They were followed by the BMC, which is the most pathetic organization in Mumbai. And I am sure every…

    Rainy Sunday

It’s been raining all day today. Infact, it has just continued since yesterday. Woke up, found it raining and went back to bed. Stayed at home all day long while the rains came down outside. Reports have it that as usual Mumbai suburbs went under water. Did set off in the afternoon, but plans got cancelled and I came right back 🙂 Also spent a good deal of the morning and afternoon cleaning up my computer stuff. Threw away around a 100 CDs! Went for the 6pm mass. We were singing. And now, I’m watching WWE: The Great American Bash Gonna make sure I don’t stay up too late tonight.…

    When Mumbai Stood Still

Yesterday at 6.25pm one of the busiest cities in the World came to a total standstill for two minutes. As the coldwar sirens blared all across Mumbai, millions stopped all conversation, traffic came to a halt and cinemas interrupted films on Tuesday as the Indian city observed a short silence in memory of 182 people killed in last week’s bombings. They were accompanied by President A.P.J Abdul Kalam as he stood in salute at Mahim station. But will the terrorists ever be caught? The chances seem grim especially with all our politicians play the blame game that they are so good at!
