I have been using Gravatars in the comments of my posts for more than a year now.
I have been using the Official Gravatar Plugin because no other plugin has worked suitably for me.
The problem with the official plugin is that it pulls the gravatar from the main site during every load. This consumes a good amount of their bandwidth and also slows down the loading on this site.
I’m now wondering if I should continue using Gravatars on this blog or not? Any thoughts about it?

I would encourage you to get the gravatar cache plugin as the site has major bandwidth issues…
Actually I’ve been facing problems with the cache plugins and this host.
Maybe, once I move the site to my VPS can I try again…
I have a gravatar but don’t use it on my own site. I’ve always run into trouble connecting to their servers, so I’d rather not. On other blogs, I often see quite a delay in load time. When one of the big boys buys them out and adds servers and bandwidth, perhaps I will.
If that doesn’t happen, I can’t imagine that they are going to be able to support the service.
