Amway and Subway

I mentioned two days back that me and my dad were to visit an Amway seminar. Turns out that it wasn’t Amway, but this was actually conducted by Network 21. Network 21 is a network of individuals who train you to sell the products. They are also the key people in helping you build your Amway pipeline. The mathematics of the entire Amways sales process is extremely interesting. I’m no expert in it, and I doubt I ever will be, but by cutting down the middle man Amway is able to give you the profits. So, you end up getting […]

Wandering around Times Square and Wall Street

[…]walk over to the Rockefeller Center. To Rockefeller Center Since our completely chaotic use of the subway on Saturday, I would like to say that I’m a lot more proficient at researching the route via Google Maps and Citymapper. We took the R line from Cortlandt St Station which opened the day we arrived, after 17 years since being damaged on 9/11. We rode the subway stops to 49th Street as that was the closest station to the Rockefeller Center. I’m starting to appreciate how much of New York can be traversed underground. We walked the entire distance from 49th […]

The Weekend Was This…

[…]woke up straight for lunch. Had the wedding mass in the evening following which we dropped in at Subway for the after-mass snack. Sunday was a rather uneventful day. My internet was down so it was kind of boring. Did venture out for my regular Mock CET only to find that it was to be held at Wadala … I had no prior intimation X( The internet finally has come back online now, after my third trip to their office. I’m seriously evaluating […]

The Events of the Week

[…]shopping. Had to pick up a gift, but ended up picking up three tshirts for me. We stopped over at Subway after this as I needed to get some food into my stomach. Before this, I had also visited a Hutch shop to shut down a billing number only to be told to fax the letter. Will get this done tomorrow. It’s extremely simple to get a new number, but it sure is complicated when you want to disable it! I’m really exhausted. My internet is still playing tricks on me and a visit there today has resulted in promises […]

A Quiet Getaway to Cornwall

[…]As it was lunchtime, we chose to grab a bite there! It was the perfect opportunity to indulge in Subway, my all-time favourite! As we were already quite late, we dropped the plan to stop at Stourhead and instead drove straight through to the Moto in Exeter. This cut probably 30 minutes of driving and stopping time on our journey, and we reached the Moto at about 4.45 pm. I’m unsure what the closing time was, but the place was quite deserted. My avid readers might remember that we encountered heavy rain at the end of our journey to the […]

Pink Panther and other stories

[…]joint. Also dropped in to my Grandmom‘s place on Tuesday. Our original plan was to order from Subway. However, the outlet in Bandra wasn’t running the offer that is being run at the outlet here in Andheri. So, we dropped the plan of Subway and instead ordered chicken tikka and chicken sheekh kebabs from the local joint opposite National College. Spent all of yesterday at home on account of Holi and coding a brand new version of Top 10. You should see the release post in a few hours. Remember to deactivate the plugin before upgrading. Also worked on my […]

Blurry Blurry Eyed

[…]don’t like being late, but then a girl in a mall will never get lonely 😉 And it was Subway today as well. (Visited Subway yesterday with my brother and it was my lunch and dinner). Was there sometime before dropping her off my my journey home. Got home, had barely some time with my love and I was off to an eye doctor to get my eyes checked. It’s been over two years since I visited and opthamologist and decided its high time (of course Mom kept grumbling to ensure I do it). We arrived very early and so […]

In Orbit

[…]you have to pick what you want to eat, there isn’t much I would eat. After she gorged into a Subway sandwich, I decided to take one. My last experience with Subway wasn’t too good and a pal of mine has kept telling me to stick to the non-veg. Decided to do that today when I ordered the Turkey Chicken Ham & Bacon Melt. It is one expensive but extremely filling sandwich! Just got back home sometime back. Not much roaming planned in the next three […]

The Brooklyn Bridge

[…]and the expensiveness of said food. We saved our energy for the Brooklyn Bridge, so we took the subway to Brooklyn Bridge City Hall station. Finding the bridge turned out to be rather easy: follow the crowds and few signboards. It really amused me to see that the bridge had a good number of hawkers selling souvenirs and water. The Brooklyn Bridge is a little less than 2km in total length which makes it quite a good walk. Thankfully, the weather was really good and we were able to walk the bridge without a drop of rain or the need […]

New York calling!

[…]by good music, beer and food. The only downside of the evening was us struggling to figure out the subway system in New York. That is likely going to take a bit more travel to figure out. Any tips? Next step is to explore the city and potentially Washington D.C. this week before we head off to […]

A Busy Christmas Week

[…]drop in to my place. We then headed over to my Grandma‘s place in Bandra. Picked up lunch at the Subway on Linking Road. The sandwiches sure cost a bomb especially when you are looking at two footlongs but they fill you up well. Spent the entire day at my Grandma’s place. 28th December Sunday, once again. Began it as usual with mass in the morning. 29th December Visited Gajalee in Phoenix Mills. I have been to the one in Seepz, Andheri several times, but this was my first at Phoenix. And, I was disappointed by the service here. The […]

One More Step Complete

[…]a good number of photos. Then visited the parent company for even more photographs. Stopped off at Subway to pick up Chicken Seekh Kabab sandwiches and now I am stuffed. Going to work on the Field Assignments now and hopefully finish that off […]

First Rains, Then Riots and now Bombs

[…](two), Khar, Meera Road, Matunga, Jogeshwari, Bhayander railway stations and on the Khar-Santacruz subway. This isn’t the first time Mumbai has been rocked by blasts. Everyone remembers the 1993 bomb blasts as well as many others that have occured since then. Folks at my place are safe. Mom reached home an hour before the blasts and I don’t take the trains. Couldn’t get through to home or vice versa because all the cellphone and landline networks were all jammed. And the horrible traffic (made worse by the sorry state of the roads) resulted in me having a very worried journey […]

Week and Weekend

[…]turned out to be rather hot, being mid-afternoon, so we went to Reclamation which has a kindoff subway. Unfortunately, there happened to be some film shooting running there and we weren’t allowed there. And we were too bored to leave by then, so we just hung out along the wall there until nearly 4.15pm. Left her home early as she was off to Khandala with her choir pals for a picnic. Went to Melody‘s house after this for a while before heading back home. Woke up early this Sunday morning to go for 9.30am mass. Dropped Rhea home after mass […]

Save the Last Dance

After a rather dull day yesterday, I went to St. Andrew’s Auditorium yesterday to watch Melita‘s dance troupe perform. I was in for rather a shock. I guessed Melita could dance, but her dancing completely blew me away:O Started at 7.30pm, a little after Madam A and Amrita entered half an hour late. The dancers were good (at least most of them) and we were in for a treat. There were quite a few numbers played and a complete mix of hindi and english. I really admired their energy as they danced till 10 pm with only a short interval […]

Save Bandwidth with gzip Compression

Browsers are equipped to serve compressed pages. Most hosts too have mod_gzip or zlib extensions installed to ensure you can avail of these features. Compression ensures that your browser receives a smaller packet and so you effectively save bandwidth. WordPress by default also comes with this feature that enables you to compress the webpages and send them to the browser. You can find it under Options » Reading. Scroll to the bottom where you will find WordPress should compress articles (gzip) if browsers ask for them. I’ve noticed upto 1 second difference between the loading times of my pages with […]

How to find your SPA Key

Once you register for Snap Preview AnywhereTM you receive a code which you need to add to your template. This key is unique to your site and hence you need to register separately for each of your sites. Once you get the 32-bit key you will need to enter this into the Options page in […]

Reported problem with SPA and WordPress on MAC

I’ve got two reports of problems with Snap Preview Anywhere Plugin when you try to edit a post (new posts seem to work fine) with the WYSIWYG editor in WordPress on the MAC OS X platform using Firefox or Safari. I’ve also had two other reports but they have not confirmed the platform. I am not in the position to test the same as I don’t have access to a MAC. But, from my understanding of the problem, I think it to be a problem with the Post Preview that gets loaded when you are editting the post. For some […]
